Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Old news. The story itself points out the difficulty -- near impossibility -- of pulling this off. There has been no follow-up to this story, and no objective indication that the Russians or White/Davis didn't deserve to win.

Hence the rolled eyes. Judged events are all the same, but I have to agree with TSN's Gord Miller :)

Who programmed the random # generator to select the 7 judges? I have it on good authority it was Mischa in Moscow.

Fair 'nuf, missed the rolleyes. At least the ice dance wasn't like the men's where everyone tried desperately to lose, forcing the pre-written wrapups to be edited.

Yep...no fix in that one. Chan choked on it big time to continue the tradition of our great men's skaters. :D

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I really couldn't care less if the ice dancing was fixed. Let them do whatever the hell they want with their crappy "sport".

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Maybe it's just me being an ignoramus, but I honestly cannot tell the difference between figure skating and ice dancing.

Looking at the Men's Hockey bracket, I'm happy Canada will probably play the Swiss. You know, the same Swiss that took them to a shootout in 2010 and beat them last year at the World Championships. :)

Jonas Hiller can shatter many dreams....

No one said it would be easy to repeat. Certainly there's lots of nail-biting back home about how this team has yet to "find itself."

Meanwhile, I'm hoping Phil & JVR can save some of their magic for when they put their Leafs sweaters back on! And I hope Nonis can swing a trade to get Pavelski. :D

Yeah it's been fun to watch the stuff on TSN. It's like they spend the Olympics waiting for the meltdown. :D

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Nick Baumgartner and Nate Holland drop out in the 1st round of SBX eliminations

Both cases where they did themselves in... Nick totally botched his start and was chasing the pack right off the bat... Couldn't climb out of the hole... Nate was up front for about 3/4 of the run and easily advancing with teammate Trevor Jacobs when Holland washed out after landing a jump... He was able to keep going, but he lost the final transfer spot...

Conditions seem to be very damp/heavy today... I'm wondering if that played a part in Baumgartner's problems... Several riders seem to be struggling off the start and I'm suspecting that it could just be a poor choice of wax/structure in their boards...

Alex Diebold and Trevor Jacobs through to the Quarter-Finals for the USA... Only 4-5 riders in the opening heats... Extra space resulting in fairly open heats... Expecting some carnage as we advance with 6 riders/heat from here on out... The course is tight and challenging...

Norway's paintball team has a curling problem ;)

Pretty darn good tiebreak match here. 4-4 in the 9th end, NOR has hammer this end.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Murdoch with a chance for a very tricky double here possibly for the win in the 10th.

WOW. He nailed it. GBR wins 6-5 with 2 in the 10th. Unreal.
