So, I can't find the "Live stream" for stuff on NBC's site... Problem is probably on my end as my ad-blocker seems to be disallowing access to parts of the site... I'm running Mozilla w/ AdBlock and NoScript... I've disabled both for NBC's site and I still can't get the site to run properly... Where can I find a "Watch Live" button on the site?

Also, does anyone know when the Opening Ceremony is taking place? That doesn't seem to be on the schedule for today's events... Just the Men's Downhill Training Run is listed when I pull it up...

Edit: Found that the OC starts at 10am EST...

I have the app on my tablet and there is no link to the Opening Ceremony. :(

I did just see on Twitter that they are playing "We Are the Champions" by Queen...Putin better arrest the person in charge of music because that is definitely performed by a gay man.

ETA: Opening ceremony starts at 11AM EST, 10AM CST.

I wish Albany/Lake Placid or New York City/Lake Placid could do a joint bid to host. However, I'm not sure Lake Placid could hold most of the events now because of how much the Winter Olympics have grown since 1980. There would probably have to be an overhaul in the area. They need a 20,000 seat arena too so that's why I include NYC or Albany because they both have close to that size.

NBC is not streaming the OC until tonight. If yoy want to watch, Deadspin has an explainer of ways around it.

I really hate NBC; this is the crap that makes people pirate video feeds. And they wonder why network TV is circling the toilet.

That was talked about to try to help boost the upstate economy. There would be events held in Albany, Saratoga, Glens Falls, Lake Placid with the main Olympic Village being in LP. Instead of a actual city hosting, it would have been the state of New York. I don't think it went anywhere because the downstate politicians (of course) wanted a piece of the pie, so they all voted against it. It was also talked about having LP/Montral do a joint bid, with the Olympic Village being in Placid, with the higher profile events taking place in Montreal. But of course the logistics of that were even worse.

I'm not paying to watch the opening ceremony. I'm taking option 3. How is it pirating? It's free, over-the-air television...

The stadium TV did not show the US delegation as it entered the stadium. Nice.
