I wanted to see if posting in a thread you were subscribed to and subsequently removed because USCHO mobile blows goats, could be remedied by posting again.

Deadspin on it again:

Skiing
Training for the women's downhill was delayed by more than an hour today, after the first three skiers down the course complained that one particular jump was way too intense, with one of them injuring both knees. Why wasn't this caught in testing? That's sort of embarrassing, actually.

It seems the course was tested by forerunners who couldn't match the speeds that the actual competitors would hit, so when they went off the hump near the finish, they didn't catch nearly as much air and didn't notice it would be a problem.

"I'm upset they didn't have more expert forerunners," said Italian Daniela Merighetti, who injured both knees upon landing and was visibly furious after her run. "They would've known not to send us down."

American Laurenne Ross was the first woman down the course: "You're welcome, I'll be your test dummy," she said. Upon hitting that last hump, she said, "you feel like you're never going to come down." She complained to organizers, as did the next skier, Italy's Verena Stuffer. Then, when Merighetti hurt herself on the same spot, organizers called a halt to training so the hump could be shaved to cut down on airtime.

The jump was about 150 feet. That's insane.

But wait, there's more!

And of course, the stuff Russia doesn't want you to pay any attention to.

As you could guess from the group's name, Occupy Pedophilia members rationalize their violence against gays as pro-children activism. Tanya Cooper, a researcher for Human Rights Watch who appeared in the video detailing anti-gay Russian violence that the group released this week, says that OP will often use the terms "gay" and "pedophile" interchangeably. Notice in the video above how members of the group explain that their objective has nothing to do with gays, it just so happens that the pedophiles they nab are gay. Notice that their victim is not asked about pedophilia but is grilled mercilessly about his homosexuality.

It is no coincidence that this violence is mounting in the wake of Russia's anti-gay propaganda law, which bans the "promotion" of "non-traditional sexual relations" toward children. The idea that children need to be protected is classic fraudulent rationale for the disenfranchisement of gays: It was the rhetoric of Anita Bryant, Jesse Helms, and Jerry Falwell. It was the reason for Uganda's "Kill the Gays Bill," as stated by its author, David Bahati.

Just in case you need reminding, this is a fallacy. This is the stuff of ignorant minds or devious people preying on minds more ignorant than theirs. You probably know this. I knew this. And yet, I still found this study from U.C. Davis to be comforting. Here's its conclusion:

The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children.

You know, even Hitler pretended not to persecute Jews during the Olympic Fortnight in 1936.

Can't get nbcolympics.com to stream live coverage for me. I've enabled third-party cookies, upgraded flash, allowed plugins, enabled Silverlight... Still either constantly refreshes or gets to the "Pick your provider" page, but doesn't go to Step 2 which verifies that you do actually have that channel.

Different issue on the phone. I can input my login info, but when I hit submit, it goes to a dead-end site.

DA*N YOU TIME WARNER!

I haven't tried. I installed everything for 2012 and nothing worked. I sent a tweet to NBCOlympics and they said they were "working on it." Sounds like they never got around to making it work.

I got it eventually in 2012. Took eight tries, but it did eventually work.

And, mobile just went through. Still no desktop streaming yet.

Is there any chance the NBC Studios are on the beach? Weather down in the town are warm. Summer Sanders tweeted a picture of her and Trenni running and there was no snow in the background. I asked her about it and she said the mountains have all the snow, the town has none. Hopefully they have a studio outside to take advantage of the weather!

So, you realize that things like this occur on a fairly regular basis on the World Cup, right? A few years ago there were problems with the jumps at Beaver Creek on the Birds of Prey course... And this has come up every couple of years at Kitzbuhl, Austria for the Hahnenkamm...

There is a reason that these people are forerunners and not competitors... In addition to the ability differences, I'm fairly certain that a forerunner doesn't have a team of wax techs prepping their gear for their runs...

Honestly, not a big deal...

Alright. I'll take some of the blame on this one. Didn't work on incognito mode (my default at work), but goes just fine on regular chrome as long as you can pass cookies from your service provider to nbcolympics and you have flash auto-starting (not click to play).

Hopefully no one else has this much trouble.
