SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

It's official: Hurly promoted to Assoc. HC, now looking to fill the Asst. position within the next 2 weeks.

Can't say I'm surprised, because in my opinion that was a no-brainer, but I'm still happy to see they made the move. You couldn't invent a better person to move into that Associate HC position behind Joe. Nice job, SLU.

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

I agree 100% with this decision. Great call by SLU. Mike Hurlbut was not only the obvious choice but the best one as well.

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

Misko resigned with Washington, I suspect he'll remain with Hershey, although who knows.

Man did I misread that one at first glance........I thought you said he resigned (as in quit). I'm not an English major and a horrible speller but I think you meant re-signed with the Caps. ;)

Heh, note the time on that. Yep, had some insomnia.

Picked up a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan last night from the dealership. Really, really enjoying it so far.

And for those not aware: Casey Jones has been tabbed by Clarkson to keep digging the hole... I mean lead the way ;)

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

I know you've had alums who have their names on the Cup as GM and coach, but has any Saint player had his name on Lord Stanley's Cup????

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

How did this happen??

From Heisenberg's site:

Have to wait for Got6 or someone else to weigh in. I know there are a couple of Lappin kids out there and from what I remember from an old post one of them is not related and this could be the one.

Last I knew in spite of the wonderful family history at SLU we were not in the running for the Lappin that is Pete's son (from what I remember hearing). I remember reading something about he was looking at larger, more prominent schools (ain't that the challenge the North Country faces lately!!!?????) I could be all wet on this but Leckster I think knows the scoop.

As for Peverley.......he was arguably one of the best players on the ice for the Bruins in game 7. Vancouver will be a formidable opponent and will be favored so there is a long way to go for a Saint to get his name on the cup. Go Bruins and Pev's!!!!

This is Pete's son. I think SLU had an offer out to him, but I was hearing he wanted to go to Harvard or a big school like Wisconsin...how he settled on Brown?? For me, the only way this is possible is if he suffered a head blow. I mean, I get wanting to go to an Ivy, but this is still the last one I would consider. He has not had the playing time to date he wanted in the USHL and hasn't blossomed the way that maybe some had hoped. For sentimental reasons, he belongs at SLU, but in reality this is no great loss. Further, just because they start someplace else doesn't mean they won't end up in the Scarlet and Brown before it is all done. I know Pete wanted him to go to SLU, but obviously let the kid make his own choices. Brown though....ewwww! Maybe it is that he thought he would get to play a lot there and Harvard passed on him? Don't know. It may also be that SLU coaches have not been hitting the USHL as hard instead focusing on Ontario and New England. C'est la vie! I don't get it but that is just me.

Pevs was clearly one of the best players in game 7. Let's hope Boston gets a good start. Other than Kesler, I hate Vancouver (let's call it the Bertuzzi hangover). Go Bruins!!!

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

I wish nothing but the best for any of Pete's kids, and I hope he has a great college experience.

But . . . Brown? Really? I guess that means he's thinking about a lot more factors than hockey, which is a good thing, and he thought Brown was the best fit. But still . . . Shooter's kid will be playing for Brown? It makes me squirm a little. :)

Let's go Bruins! Peverly has been making a ton of plays for his linemates, playing good defense, mixing it up along the boards, and getting his team a lot of possession time. He looks great.

Peverley scores his second of the game...4-0 Bruins

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

I posted the post-game Interview with Bruin Coach Claude Julien commenting on Peverley at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_R0h9vmsQQ&sns=em

Thomas and Peverley were the #1 and #2 stars of game 4. Has to be a first for the ECAC.

Also -- from a very reliable source: Mike Keenan was spotted at the Hoot Owl last weekend "surrounded by blondes".

Re: SLU 2010-2011 - Until Moko Comes Along This Will Have To Do

Talk about taking advantage of an opportunity. Peverley has been playing well wherever they've put him, but it says a lot that he was the guy they chose to fill Horton's spot, and even more that he stepped up the way he did. Here's hoping for two more Boston wins on the season!!!
