Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

The Curse of Starr is over! What a third period! CONGRATS to the Saints, Coach Marsh and the seniors!

As someone who was at each of the series where we won game 1 and lost 2/3 a few years back, this feels GREAT. Congrats to Coach Vaughn and Gate on a great season, and good luck to SLU in the state capital!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Congratulations on advancing to Albany. It was frustrating to see my team blow a lead like that, but I really, really hope Joe Marsh wins Coach of the Year for that comeback (and also for your comeback against Clarkson).

Best of luck to the Saints next weekend.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Thanks Rainman.

I have to say, I really, really like this team. I didn't think they could make it to Albany this year, but they absolutely earned it and they absolutely deserve it. I'm so happy I'll get to see them play again.

Is this group the polar opposite of the teams in the mid-2000s or what? What a great group of players making the most of their talent and heart.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Finally, we break the curse of Starr.

Congrats to the Saints on a great effort put forth this far. They didn't play a great first tonight, but the refs helped that out too.

I'll be headed up to Albany next weekend to hopefully see a magical run continue. Cornell has punched their ticket along with us, so it's up to Yale/Brown and Union/Q to figure out who we play. None of the matchups will be easy, but in the final 4, you expect that.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Congrats to the Saints on a hard-fought win. That was really a thing of beauty to us Saint fans. Congrats to Raley, Drewiske, Pitsi and McKenzie but especially Tisi who saved the game with about 2-3 minutes to go on a wide-open shot from just outside the crease. That is when I thought we might win it tonight.

Couldn't be prouder of the effort and the effort and the result!!! Congrats to Colgate too for a great series. Both games could have gone either way, especially tonight when we were a bit flat in the first.

Wish Harvard pushed Cornell a bit more. Love to see OT (or 6 OT's) at Yale tomorrow!!!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

How sweet it is!
Tip of the cap to Donnie Vauhn (my fellow Slu '84) and 'gate ...they are and will always be a class act.
Now a chance to make up for last year's double whammy in Albany.
We go in loose, confident and, IMO, very dangerous. So proud of these lads...pride and desire.
No coach on the planet I'd rather have behind our bench.
Go Saints.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Kudos to the Saints on winning a tough series. You guys have a talented, gritty team; there is no reason you can't make some noise in Albany. Your fans are classy as well. We'll be following you in the state capital. Good luck the rest of the way....

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Congrats SLU! Best of luck in Albany. Hopefully we'll join you there (but won't know for another 24 hrs).

Either way I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces since I'll be there regardless of what the Bobcats do.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Oh when the Saints, Oh when the Saints, Oh when the Saints go Marching into ALBANY! How I want to be in that Rink, when the Saints go marching in. What a great VICTORY. What a fantastic season for a team that wasn't picked to do much. Two wins away from an ECAC Championship and a birth in the NCAA's. Great season so far for Coach Marsh and for the entire Saints team. Once again McKenzie strikes with a goal and Tisi has another (4th) solid outing vs Colgate. Well, that's All Benny for Colgate and on to the final 4 for SLU. Nice season for the Gate, they are a classy bunch over in Hamilton.

Go Saints Go

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know I've posted all the video on the blog (http://www.watertowndailytims.com/section/blogs05). I've got three of the four goals (all but Pitsikoulis) and SLU coming off the ice into the locker room. I've got video interviews with Raley and McKenzie.
Heading out of Starr now. Goodnight.

Dan

Thanks for all your hard work this weekend and so far this season, Dan. It's really great to get an insider view to the team we all have such a great passion for.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Boy......how sweet was that??

In my years of following Saints hockey rarely have I seen as joyous a celebration and bunch of fans, players and coaches as after tonights game. All the players were out in the lobby aftewards and excited would be an understatement. Everyone was lingering around, savoring the moment and no one wanted to leave.

Thanks for all the nice comments and wishes from the Colgate fans and others on our thread. Colgate can hold their heads high although I know how diffficult that is when your season ends like it did and especially for your seniors. Both of those games could have gone either way and truthfully I think Colgate was the "fresher" of the two teams so a game three wouldn't have been anything we would have wanted.

Our goaltending was certainly the main difference in the series and Kain played wonderfully both nights. It was great to see the production from the third and fourth lines.

I already have my tickets for Albany and hope to see many of you there. I'll be watching with interest the results from Sunday nights games to see who we wind up playing.

Congrats to the players and coaches for far exceeding everyone's expectations. We're alive, well and as far as what happens next??? Well who knows we've been surprising people all year long and I see no reason for that to stop now!!!

Best of luck in Albany and again thanks to the Colgate fans who weighed in with their best wishes.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Hey guys,

I posted the wrong link before:
http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/section/blogs05

I assume you all have it bookmarked anyway and it won't matter ;)

SLUwriter,

I have to agree with hockeyplayer. GREAT JOB covering the Saints this season. The amount of press and the video coverage you produce is awesome! I am trying not to be biased even though my father did win the "Cassle of the Saints" title, but your coverage is above and beyond what would be expected. Thanks for a great season and keep up the good work as our post season continues.
