Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

Re: Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

The biggest school mass murder ever in the U.S. used bombs but no guns. We should free up the gun laws so the crazy people don't feel compelled to build bombs if guns are too hard to get ahold of.

Re: Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

Crazy people are going to be crazy. A crazy person could just as easily decide to plow through the crowd in the Sikh parking lot in a Hummer.

Make the laws for violence committed with a gun much more severe. Make shooting somebody prima facie evidence of premeditation (if you didn't want to slice the guy's head off why were you carrying a sword around?). Allow the people who use guns legally and responsibly to exercise their rights, and cream the people who are just exploiting easy access to gun to commit crimes.

Easy peasy.

Report from under the rock: Florida has what's known as 10-20-Life for gun use. Ten years for using the gun for an enumerated felony. 20 years for firing it. Life if someone is hit or killed. This is in addition to any other sentences that might apply. Billboards and PSA's both on radio and TV emphasize the penalties. They say there's been a significant drop in gun crime as a result.

Ummmmm, a **** shame that he's in prison instead of on the street, a **** shame that he's in prison instead of deceased, a **** shame that he's serving life, or a **** shame that he's not eligible for parole? Your posts usually are prone to ambiguity.

You figure it out, genius, and let us know what you come up with.

I'm assuming you meant to write "Your posts are NOT usually prone to ambiguity." Otherwise, what you wrote makes no sense. On second thought, nevermind.

And firearms are illegal in the city limits of Chicago. Just how many shootings has that stopped in the city?

Several cities that had the most restrictive ordinances on gun (hand guns) ownership have seen those ordinances overturned in court on constitutional grounds. And I read a piece recently (which I can't post because I've forgotten where I saw it) that claims gun deaths in many of those cities are down because the people living in neighborhoods most often victimized by shootings are arming themselves. I'll try to find it.

Your assumption is correct. Thanks for the clarification and the compliment.

We have differing definitions of "compliment," I think. None were intended. None delivered.

Re: Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

Tim McVeigh used a semi-automatic fertilizer bomb? Who knew? And a Ryder truck counts as "concealed"? Really? Maybe we need a federal law that fertilizer bombs can only be transported in flat beds.

This post made me laugh. Then made me sad (for the obvious reason).

Re: Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

Absolutely cannot get rid of/outlaw/restrict semi-automatic weapons. That is a non-starter. Conversations can't even begin if that is in the room where the table sits. No. Way. In. Hell.

Not only is it a non-starter, based on the wording of Heller and Miller, there's a good chance it's also unconstitutional based on this:

but there's no discussion when the beginning line is eliminating every gun invented in the 20th century.

The opinion in Heller indicated it's acceptable to own guns that are commonplace/commonly accepted as those for self defense. (Or something to that effect.)

I was working in Omaha when it happend. We later learned McVeigh had scouted the federal building in Omaha but chose OkC because of the day care center. Turns out he also used the name of a guy who lived in Omaha in renting the Ryder truck. Imagine this poor guy sitting at home, watching CNN about the horrible boming, and the FBI knocks on his door, with lots of questions.

Re: Shooting at Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee.

You want to talk limits on the size of magazines or something, fine, but there's no discussion when the beginning line is eliminating every gun invented in the 20th century.

Who advocated that?

Not only is it a non-starter, based on the wording of Heller and Miller, there's a good chance it's also unconstitutional based on this:

And of course, dx took the bait. Idiot.

If that was bait, it's hard to tell the difference between your regular asinine posts and this one. Looks like about a half dozen more that "took the bait". Must suck to know so many people have a tough time wading through your bullsht.

How's that commute working for you? Still dodging bullets every day on 394?

Putting whatever beef you two have aside, bbdl knows his guns. Very well, I might add. Personally, I've learned a lot about the differences (big and small) about guns/ammo/etc. He may be a little fanatical at times, but I don't question his knowledge when it gets down to the nitty-gritty. And his point about semi-s being banned? He has one.

God, I didn't even catch that the first time. I was too busy rolling my eyes at the "legislative opportunities" in semi-auto, concealed legal weapons he saw.

That cost me a perfectly good opportunity to post this picture, which I will now do anyway, since 5mn still deserves it.

Not a direct connection, but I knew a guy who went to college with someone who put "Uh oh bush is in town, better get the rifle" up as an away message on AOL Instant Messenger. Within about an hour and a half, the secret service showed up at his dorm room.
