SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

He was flat against the boards, so it depends on how he hits him. many times in pro hockey where the officals have a clue they don't call that.

I only just saw the replay. Bad, cheap hit. Had Marvin been the one playing Genoway, you might argue he was finishing his check. But he wasn't. He went out of his way to hit someone else's man high from behind for no reason. The Sioux need to keep it clean tonight, but they should turn up the physical play a couple of notches as long as it doen'st give SCSU too much PP time. I agree with others that the best message is to kick the sh*t out of them on the scoreboard.

Question: If it is true that other teams have been running Genoway, will Hak and his staff send videos of prior play to the league? I know it's not going to bring about a change in policy, but it's just like working a ref during the game. Good coaches do it, and it works.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Take off your red glass and go watch the video again Marvin chased Chay all the way from the defensive zone up the ice and hit Chay when he didn't even have the puck, the Elbow to the back of the head was a bush league hit and pretty apparent that it was a deliberate attempt at trying to hurt Chay. One game isn't enough, if this hack had done this in the NHL it would be a 2-3 game suspension.

I didn't watch the game, but from watching Marvin play's play in the past makes me think he was following him up the ice for a reason. In most sports when "dirty" hits like this happen they are usually in retaliation for something that happened earlier. And im not condoning the hit or anything just putting out a point that hasnt been said.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Genoway is out for tonight.

Bruneteau is in for Cichy.
Dell is in for Eidsness.
Fienhage is in for Genoway.

To my No Dak. Friends: Please stop with the cheap shot crap talk...oh wait your program is as white as the driven snow. It wont take more than 5 minutes and a Sioux boy's going to make a run at a Husky.

100% correct, The Vicar. Don't forget that we are just better than you though.

Sioux Sweep

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

From Kevin A's blog.

"Changes for SCSU tonight at UND include Aaron Marvin out of the lineup because of a one-game suspension imposed by the WCHA after his hit on Chay Genoway behind the net in Friday's 4-2 loss. Garrett Roe is returning from his team-imposed one-game suspension and will skate on a line with David Eddy and Ryan Lasch. The Tony Mosey-Drew LeBlanc-Brian Volpei line remains intact. Jared Festler is skating with Nick Oslund and Travis Novak on the third line and Ben Hanowski has joined Jordy Christian and Jon Ammerman on the fourth line.

On defense, Craig Gaudet is paired with Garrett Raboin, Sam Zabkowicz and Chris Hepp remain together, and Oliver Lauridsen is paired with Taylor Johnson.

Dan Dunn will start.

Genoway is not in the lineup for UND."

 I never said he didn't deserve the 5 minutes. If you watch the play Chay was the last one to touch the puck and since nobody else had touched the puck yet he was fair game to hit. Just because he hit him high it does not mean he was trying to hurt him. When guys play hard sometimes those things happen. I agree he shoudl sit out a game and it was a penalty, but calling it bush league is a little strong.

SCSU has got far worse cheap shots than the marvin hit from UND players. I seem to remember a Sioux player Spearing Jon Cullen a few years after the game was over for no reason.

Oh, so that means Marvin's hit is okay, then.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

i couldnt see the legs of the und player but it looked like he jumped in to the hit on volpie that was a penalty

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

And yet SCSUtommyboy makes excuses and tries to say it wasn't dirty.
I wonder how he would feel if UND planted the two trolls Roe and Lasch into the boards?

It was a dirty hit...NO QUESTION.

Great excuse for knocking a guy out of the game with a cheap and dirty hit.

putting yout elbow to the back of the head into the glass just happens?

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Good game tonight. Dunn played well and the huskies really battled and played a good physical game. UND's freshman goalie sieved out just like Lee did last night and that was the difference. now they need a sweep next weekend against Bucky.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Nice job on earning the split, SCSU.
The shots were certainly lopsided in UND's favor, but Dunn stood tall.
The waived off goal certainly looks big considering the final score.

Roe and Lasch.
They're the type of players that you love when they're on your team, but hate when they are on the opposing team.
Regardless, they are fun to watch on the ice...I just wish they didn't feel the need to dive so much. Just play the game straight up. I realize that they do it since the refs don't call it much, but just play the game. Don't play soccer. /end rant

See you in SCSU. :)

What excuse? All I said was he isn't a dirty player and I don't think he was trying to hurt him. If I was on here saying it was a bad call then you would have a point. I have already said countless times he deserved 5 and the game.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Dan Dunn stole that game.

That disallowed goal is so annoying. Why is that even a rule? I don't care if you meant to blow the whistle, you didn't and the puck was in the net. That should be a goal. Heck, why was it even reviewed? Was Adam going to decide he didn't plan on blowing the whistle and allow it?

it's so he could go over to Hak and be like i looked at myself and determined I was going to blow the whistle. Adam sucks.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

That hit was bush league and Marvin followed him up the ice and didn't have the puck when he was ramed into the boards with Marvin's Elbow, if he was playing in the NHL right now he would be sitting for at least 2-3 more games.

Marvin followed him up because until the dump in, Genoway had the puck. Marvin followed the play and Genoway got the puck back, then got rid of it and Marvin hit him.
It's possible Marvin didn't see Genoway pass it off.
I'm not condoning the hit, it was a CFB and he got the five and the game, I just don't think you can say Marvin was headhunting and intended to hurt him.
