SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

What I mean is where have you ever heard of a homecoming hockey game?
Yes it's our biggest sport but it's never really been associated with homecoming.
Yes, I have heard of a Homecoming Hockey Game. In fact, you mentioned it in your post. FYI

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

This isn't high school, homecoming doesn't mean the same thing.
There is no formal dance, no one cares about the king and queen as hardly anyone votes for it mostly because they have no clue who any of them are.
Hell the only time I ever heard any real mention of it was the year a guy ran for and won queen.
I've been to hockey games during homecoming week, homecoming isn't mentioned, it isn't talked about and the fact it is homecoming isn't going to lead to a sell out, yes you may get more people as Tommy said, but it isn't going to be enough.
People come back to see friends and get hammered, not for sports, it's just not that important.

But hey, if you think it is, go ahead and say something to administration, email Morris, whatever.
Anything is better than having it constantly brought up on here as "something the people want" when the only people I see who "want" it are a few people on here who don't seem to be trying real hard to get it.

First off, every year this topic does come up. And every year you post about half of the posts on the topic, so if you really want it to go away, stop feeding the beast, but like most things, I think you just like bringing up your same points ad naseum. :D

And again, its Homecoming. The **** badminton team deserves a home match, so our highly ranked, D-1 sport certainly does too.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

This topic only can happen on a SCSU thread.:D Shouldn't we be talking who is going to play on what line by now or how high the team should be ranked to start the season?:D

If other people can bring up their same stupid **** every year, so can I. :D

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

They could have beaten Kentucky and I probably wouldn't have cared.

If SCSU had a D1 basketball team and they made the NCAA tourney like NDSU did two years ago, I would follow the team a little. I wouldn't care like I do about SCSU hockey, but I would follow them. The fact is nobody care's about D2 sports. The only places that did were complete hillbilly places like North Dakota.:D

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Just heard that Kyle Rau committed to the Gophers. I'm actually not upset by that at all... first off, his family had season tickets growing up, its to be expected. Second, his other choices were DU and UND. Rather have his talent go wasted at the U than have him make one of those two teams more dangerous. :D

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

hmm, stb following the basketball team isn't going to convince anyone else to do so... I do follow men's basketball and football though, and take note of when other teams do well. I don't know what actual attendance at bball games is, the the official avg attendance of 3000+ is at least in the top quarter of D2 and beats a lot of D1 teams. Women's tennis got to at least the elite eight this season and baseball made the regional final.

If I am reading SC times and I check up on the basketball because I have nothing else to do, but I wouldn't say that means I care....

Actually, I was considering following the basketball team until stb posted that he's an avid follower. Now I'm going to avoid the basketball team in every way possible. :D

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

I said I follow basketball, not specifically SCSU haha, though I was pretty pumped to see us make the final four, I think I went to maybe three games this year?

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Hey, the basketball team is fun to watch. The swim team strips as the game goes on, which in some cases, is rather enjoyable.

I've attended 10-15 games in my life, it has been a few years now though. Went to about 20 or so football games, the last one being the first game at the new stadium, and attend a couple UMD football games every season.

I went to the first football game at the new stadium too and went to one half of a homecoming game freshman year... D2 Football sucks. I went to a few basketball game when I was at school because I knew a couple players and I wanted to see them play. D2 basketball isn't as bad as d2 football.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

I've only been to one football game and I was embarrassed they were representing our school. It was my freshman year parents weekend, and me and my family had gotten drawn to sit in the presidents box. We were up by 10 or so points with like three minutes left and we ended up losing by a touchdown if I remember right because they blocked 2 punts for td's. Our special teams coach was a moron and had 5 lineman then a row of 3 more a little further back then 2 more then the punter... guess what happened? All three lines were bull rushed and the punter was basically tackled...TWICE
