SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Why? I thought nobody care's about SCSU......

When I placed my order almost a month ago for this weekend's games, Saturday was almost sold out.

I would love to make the trip, but with the way we played on Saturday, I don't want to feel great shame when leaving the arena

I am making the trip. Well...I only live an hour and a half away from Madison. If there is any shame, alcohol does a good job at making you feel better.

Wear a Wisconsin sweater. You'll blend right in.

Does being in a group of 11 with 4 badger fans count?

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

All right, that's it! I don't think I've ever neg repped a Badger before, but I can't take it anymore.

You kidding me?!? I've neg repped a ton of SCSU fans. :D

I will be more than glad to talk about this weekend. I am all set to drive to Madison this weekend. Are you? It should be a great series, and if there is a higher up...SCSU will win a game.;)

What time you guys getting there?

In this last 2 months, SCSU has lost 1 game to each decent team that have played, sorry, sweeps against Quinnipiac, Brown, Minnesota, and Tech don't impress me, nevermind what happened vs UND last sat, i don't know what that was, so i'd say everyone will get a good idea about St Cloud after this weekend. If they come out with points they are a contender, if they get swept then it may be a different year, same story for St cloud. JMO

Yeah, but sweeping bad teams is better than splitting with them. UW has the following sweeps ALL season:

hosting UNH, hosting UAA, hosting MTU, and hosting MSU-M. Which of these worldbeaters defined your season? If its a fair question to ask if we're for real, then the question's back at you guys.

All you can do is play the schedule in front of you, and to this point in time, we've got 2 road sweeps to your none, and one home and home sweep. You can say all you want about our opponents, but we didn't get the choice to play teams other than what was on our schedule. We didn't blow UAA out of the water, but CC, DU, UND, MN and MSU-M all failed to do what we were the only team to do, and that's sweep in Anchorage.

I think the WCHA is in a down year, but I think that DU, UW and SCSU are all a) proven teams and b) they'll sneak up on people in the NCAAs because everyone will convince themselves the WCHA's horrible this year because MN and UND are having down years. I also think that both teams will come out of the weekend with 2 points, a lot of mutual respect, and a real desire to see each other in the playoffs, WCHA or NCAAs.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

I wish I didn't work weekends, Mad-town would be a refreshing break from Stearns County.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Question for any Minnesotans:
What is the common opinion of Winona State University over there?
Where would it be on the Minnesota pecking order?
A smart-arsed friend of mine thinks he has the greatest college degree because he went there.

That good enough for ya? :D

Don't you need to be 21 to be let into the township of Madison?

I will be there around 3 or 4 in the afternoon on Friday.

We'll be there between 2 and 3 I think.

I'd put Winona around the MSU-M, SCSU, UMD tier. A lot of similiarities between all four, so it would most likely depend on what department they went through.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Honestly, Winona is often very highly ranked in the "Midwest Masters" category in US News and World Report. UMD is also. Both are almost always Top 100 overall and Top 10 public. The over MnSCU schools are usually 3rd tier, although, as mentioned earlier, all have some great programs and some bad programs, so the quality of the education depends on the course of study.

If this is a down year for the WCHA I'd like to see an UP year. Why? because Nodak and Rodents aren't in the top 5?

Where would Miami be with any of the WCHA schedules? I'd say about 4th-5th place

I'd say its a down year because the league's not that deep. CC is in the top half of the league, and I can recall years where they'd be 7th, maybe even 8th.

Who knows exactly how things would be, but I have to assume Miami would be ahead of SCSU if they were in the WCHA this year. I think they would be in the mess that is the top half, and could be anywhere from leading it to fighting for home ice. I think talent-wise they're up there with DU, but considering they're not used to having such a difficult schedule week in and week out, they could be as far down as 5th/6th. I just think they'd be ahead of UND and MN.

Miami is a very talented group. It would be very difficult to even try to determine where they would be in the WCHA but I think it's safe to say they would be in the top 3 if not leading the entire thing. The WCHA might not have as much depth this year compared to a few years ago but really what league is very deep this year? I'd say the WCHA has just as much talent as any other league right now.

True, but I'd say that WCHA equalling another conference is a down year for the WCHA.

Miami would be 3rd-5th consistently at best. Maybe a run every couple years or so. Maybe a dip every couple years or so.

Never considered applying there (I only sent out one college application), so I can't say I ever bothered knowing much about the school. But if I were to judge by my high school classmates that wound up going there I'd be ranking it very low on the totem pole. Turns out I might be wrong by what others are saying, but... wow, they let some stupid kids in.

I'm sure the same can be said of any school, though.

I don't even know if I'd give them that CONSISTENTLY, because I'd say year in and year out they'd be behind MN, UND, UW and DU and would be fighting with CC and SCSU, but we were just discussing how they'd have fared this year.
