SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Saw it live and in the 3rd section, anybody have a link to either the Raboin hit or the Roe skirmish?

Listen to the Wisconsin announcers... wouldn't even have been called a few years ago in "old time hockey," now they're protecting people, so call it 2 minutes which they should've, then move on. Hope Blake's ok, but the UW guys said all's fair in love and hockey.

When this guy defends Jan Brady, the defense rests.

Don't pay attention to those UW announcers on WPT, they are idiots, usually don't even get the names of the badgers right. They are not the normal UW announcers, these guys just do the tape delay broadcasts and i'm pretty sure the J eachother off under the table during the game.

It was a bad hit, giving the guys history he will probably get another game but not much more the WCHA is lost when it comes to this issue. UW took it upon themselfs to suspend C. Smith after the MSM series earlier in the season, that seems to be the only way to have any effect on the player is if the punishment comes from your own athletic department. If it comes from the league, it doesn't seem to do much. Just my thought...

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Here is what Motzko just said on his coaches show about the hit.

He said Eaves told him that a year ago that was a good hit, but now it is not. Eaves said he wasn't trying to hurt the guy.... Funny, I guess Marvin isn't a goon. Motzko also said he is going to be suspended because they are trying to take that hit out of the game. He also said many coaches in hockey think they shouldn't take that hit out of hockey. That is playing good physical hockey.....That my view on it.:D Motzko being the wussy hockey guy he is says he thinks it is a good rule......

Is there a link to the radio interview?

Unfotunately I doubt you'll find one. The Motzko show is through this station but I don't think they have a replay of his show......http://www.1450knsi.com/

TB is for the most part accurate on what Motzko said. He did say that Eaves told him after the game that a year or two ago that was a legal hit. Motzko emphasized the fact that they took those types of hits out of the NHL and have now taken them out of the college game, which he agrees with. He said if that same hit occurred in the NHL it would be a suspension and that he expects the same for Marvin. Motzko made a good point that when it comes down to it he'll side on the side of safety rather than have these kids end up getting seriously hurt.

What a far fetched concept. Safety. Glad someone in Jan Brady Country "gets it."

He also said many coahes think it is a good hit and should stay in the game... I agree with those coaches.:D For the record that hit does not always get a fine in the NHL. In fact the only fines I have seen for hits like that happen because a guy gets his elbow up. If I am wrong someone please show me a hit where a guy leads with his shoulder and gets fined......

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Euro's and my group went to Nitty Gritty, The Pub, Brats and I lost track of the other ones we went to. We were at Brats all day Saturday until the game. We stayed at University Inn on State Street. I do have agree with you about badger fans assuming we drove from St. Cloud. Mr. wore Black and myself live just south of Milwaukee. Also, my husband went to Madison for a year so he used it in his favor. I was good seeing a lot of people I had not seen in quite some time.

Best line of the weekend came from some of the people checking into the hotel. They were wondering where St. Cloud was located

Person 1: "I think it is in Minnesota"
Person 2: "No, I think it is in North Dakota or South Dakota. I am pretty sure it is in South Dakota."

First off, I like the fact that you use "Mr. wore Black," I coined that! :D

Second, my favorite was the guy who started making cracks about Canadians when he saw us. Then he started apologizing saying he didn't mean it, and we had to explain to him we're not Canadian.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

I agree and it's about time.

Did you have the same "it's about time" thought when UND actually suspended Frattin for all his drunkin foolishness? Or did you agree with your coach when Hak changed his mind and let Frattin play again since the Susie's were struggling at that time... oh I meant because Frattin was such a nice young man, and was doing all the right things to come back... yeah that's what I meant to say.

Double Standards are fun, aren't they? Was "justice served" in that case?? Or to you, is justice only present when it's self serving?

What the **** does this have to do with Marvin taking out two separate players? There is no double standard because your talking about a conduct issue compared to a potential career ending penalty. The UND coach said Frattin was suspended indefinitely if I recall correctly. Frattin accomplished the bench marks that Hakstol laid out for him so, that is up to the coach, the university and the player. Frattin was also acquitted in a jury trial by his peers. I also have no bearing on the decision, I am simply a mortal fan. Yeah I thought it was a good decision to suspend him for the first semester. I would have suspended him long before the lawn-mower incident if I had been the coach.

“I don’t think there’s any argument from anyone that it wasn’t an illegal hit,” McLeod told the St. Cloud (Minn.) Times.

Todd Anderson and Baby Shepard could not be reached for comment.

Can't wait for a BADger or a No. Dak. Flickertail to get a three game suspension for a hit where a penalty was not called. Of course we'll read, "the penalty was unfair, to harsh, where's the the consistency," etc,etc... What goes around, come around whiners!

What, exactly, does that have to do with my comment?
