SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

I just saw it again on the tape delay and I don't think it was cheap. Ron Vincent even said it's on the border of being legal/illegal let alone cheap.

I think by the rules as they are now, it's clearly a penalty. I don't want to call the kid dirty, maybe it wasn't. It sure looked to me like he aimed for his head.
I'm not exactly impartial though.

Contact to the Head:

SECTION 8. A player shall not make contact with an opposing player’s head or neck area in any manner.

PENALTY—Minor or major or disqualification at the discretion of the referee. Contact to the head shall be assessed in front of the infraction (i.e., contact to the head – elbow).

Note: The rules committee instructs officials to use a zero tolerance policy in this area.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

I think you can overreact on what should happen to the offending player and how that player is perceived. I have no doubts Marvin will now be labeled as dirty and cheap regardless of intent.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Maybe Geoffrion should keep his head up when he skates? Aren't you taught that when you're 10 years old?

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

After hearing about Marvin and Roe's antics in tonight's game, it appears that the thread title is somewhat accurate.

Yes, but you're also taught to not check people in the head, but evidently some college players have issues with that too. ;) :p

I guess the face is nowhere near the head or neck area.

Well, I was taught when I was 10 years old that professional wrestling was fake, but apparently you missed that memo. Judging by your signature, professional wrestling hits to the head are the norm up there in Jan Brady country.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Your case is weak.

And good burn on the wrestling thing. Never heard that one before.

A.) Did you watch that video? That's two blatant hits to the head by Aaron Marvin this season. TWO. He should be handed a nice suspension from the league.

B.) Honestly how old are you? You realize this is 2010 correct? When was pro wrestling sweet? And why is it in your US College Hockey Online signature?

1. Yes I did. Marvin hit him with a strong shoulder to the head. Is it Aaron's fault that Geoffrion was looking down? Nope. What's Aaron supposed to do? Quick jump out of the way? If Geoffrion had been forward two inches it would have been shoulder to shoulder. Sorry. Not a dirty hit in my opinion.

2. Why does it matter to you what I watch on TV?

If this is your opinion than clearly it makes no sense to continue talking about this with you because clearly you are delusional.

Re: SCSU and UW: Badger hunting

Wow, just saw the replay of the game cause I ended up going to the Bucks game instead tonight and Brendan Smith beat the crap out of Roe. That looked like an NHL type fight. Roe might be doing some time next week.

And the dirtiest team in the WCHA award goes to... [drum roll] ST CLOUD STATE!

On another note, Goaltending has become an issue with the Badgers. Goody was way off this weekend and luckily the Badgers are much deeper and talented all around so they were able to outscore SCSU on Saturday. That won't be a good formula come March. Hopefully one of Goody or Bennett can figure it out.

Right on the line of dirty as I don't think he meant to hit him in the head, I think he was trying to go for the shoulder and missed.
Absolutely a penalty, but I don't think the intent to injure was there.
And Chuck, attacking a guy's sig line because you don't like what's in there is petty.
