Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Just no one start crowing about how we're in a tie for first place. Because then all the mouth breathers and knuckle draggers will wander in here to ask us how it feels to be the champions of January...and then we'll all want to shoot ourselves. ;)
Ahh, I get it. You have a reputation to uphold.

I get my crowing in while I have the chance. And I was doing plenty of it before 10 last night.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Motzko may be sending some money to Colorado this week.

More controversy ensued in the last 90 seconds when an apparent Huskies’ tying goal was waived off by Klozowski, and the call stood after review. Apparently, the call was the referees had lost sight of the puck and the play waived dead. A visibly angry Motzko crossed the ice after the game to give Klozowski a piece of his mind, and he was held back by the rest of the officiating crew.

“We scored a goal,” said Motzko. “Everybody in the rink knows we scored a goal. There’s nothing else to say.”

Testwuide got an empty-net goal with 10.7 seconds left to seal the win. The Huskies were assessed a team unsportsmanlike conduct and game misconduct at the end of the game for Motzko’s questioning.

Amen bro. Plus, stating a fact is rarely boastful.

Looking at next weekend, the game on Saturday night at the NHC against the Seawolves will be a battle to win.

Good to see Motzko give the officials some heat. Sounds as if they played too big of a role in deciding who won last night.

Good thing he was held back by the officials. Bob can't afford to give away any pieces of his mind and Klozowski wouldn't know what to do with it anyhow!

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

There needs to be some sort of a signal for when referees have lost sight of the puck. There are FOUR guys out there. Why is it that when ONE of them loses sight, the freaking whistle blows? That is total crap.

Something that probably wasn't discussed enough. A second ref was a good thing at first, 'cause its another set of eyes, but one more set of eyes that has to be able to see the puck, so therefore its really another whistle ready to blow.

However, fact is we surrendered 4 goals in every single game against CC, and somehow got 3 of 8 season points. Lets lick our wounds, regroup, and kick the snot out of UAA.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

I was there. Huge mistake by the officials. It should have been a goal, period. And the biggest concern is this, if he claimed he lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle, then why would you need to stop the game to review it. There would be nothing to see or change, correct? Sad, sad, sad. Add to that, that on one of CC's goals, they were clearly offsides, and it is hard not to "*****". I am not a big fan of crying, but teams and players put a lot into a season, and game results do not need to be altered by poor work by the officiating crew. I sense a letter of apology coming to SCSU on the blown calls. Lot of good that does for you.

While all that is true.... we played CC four times and we let them score 4 goals in EVERY SINGLE GAME and still were lucky to go 1-2-1. We could've easily lost both Friday night games, and you can't go on the road and give up 4 and 5 goals respectively in a series. We lick our wounds, sweep the Seapuppies, and then go from there.

Yeah the D needs to shore up a bit, but I don't think we were "lucky" to get those points considering we put of 4 goals or better in 3 of the 4 games and I'm sure CC isn't real happy with their D and goaltending against us last weekend.
We're averaging more than 4 goals a game since the break, that's a good sign.
Personally I think we can win 7 of our last 8 and the Cup is still within reach, keep digging and work hard, catch a break or two, and it's not a stretch to say we can win it.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Against CC on Saturday night, I thought I was listening to the Vikings. The boys were creative in finding ways to give the game to CC, with a little help from the refs. Refs should be penalized in some way for missing obvious stuff-especially off-sides. According to witnesses, CC scored the go-ahead goal when a player was 2feet inside the zone before the puck came in. You got 2 guys supposed to be catching this. What the F? Coach was more Po'd on that call, than the waive off of the tying goal.

I meant off-side, not icing. Now I will penalize myself.

Icing seems to get waved off more than half the time out east. Is it that bad in the wild wild west?

Seems like the name of the game is to produce as much scoring as possible and get everyone out the door as quickly as possible.

That's a pretty lofty target. Could it happen? Sure, but I would be surprised if we swept UAA, Mankato, the Sioux, and split with Wisco. UAA we should sweep, let's hope their streak at the NHC doesn't end. The Sioux, no matter how they're playing, are always a dangerous team. I'll say split or 3 pts out of that weekend. We have had the worst luck and not played all that well at the Kohl Center, with the Badgers being as good as they are I would be content with a split, ecstatic with anything more and disappointed with anything less. We always have trouble with Mankato, should we sweep, yes....but that's entirely different than what actually happens. League title? It's possible but Denver is in the driver seat right now and the schedule is set up very well for them.

Exactly! A this point the team has to forget about it and move on. They still have a great shot at winning the regular season title. Four points is a must this weekend.

The bottom line is FTLT's target should be the goal. This team better get at least 10 points the rest of the year and if they get 12 or above they have a shot at the title.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

For us to have a chance at the regular season title I believe we would have to take 14 out of 16 remaining possible points. Thats going to be tough with a trip to Madison and home series with the Sioux.

Looking at Denver's schedule the rest of the way, it is there's to lose. They would have to play way below average not win it.

The regular season title would be most awesome, but if it does not happen our next goal has to be finish in the top three. So we can play either Mankato or Alaska in the first round while avoiding the play in game at the Final Five.

Looking at Wisconsin's remaining schedule I guess one could make an argument for them to win the Title as well.

Duluth has the toughest road in my opinion of the top five teams.

That Denver, CC series at the end of the year might be a little entertaining! :)

10 pts, absolutely. FTLT is saying 14 of the 16 pts, that's a huge difference. My expectation (based on my post) is 12-13 points, which I still don't think gives them much of a chance. If they find a way to get 14 pts they have a shot at the title. We need to make up two pts on Denver and that isn't going to be easy considering they play MN, Tech, Kato, and then CC.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see them win it, but after DU sweeping last wknd and us dropping that game to CC, top 3 finish is the more realistic goal IMO (which is exactly what I was predicting before the season began, along with their first NCAA win!:D) As H4L said, get one of the bottom 3 in the first round AND avoid the play-in game.

The Huskies need to play the rest of the season one game at a time. They need to get better goaltending out Dunn or he needs to sit. You can't expect the team to bail him out every friday night. If he plays bad on Friday, I would sit against UND. Hopefully the team sweeps this weekend and makes the UND games even better tahn they usually are. The students sections will be packed and the fans are always crazy for those games.
