Ahh, I get it. You have a reputation to uphold.Just no one start crowing about how we're in a tie for first place. Because then all the mouth breathers and knuckle draggers will wander in here to ask us how it feels to be the champions of January...and then we'll all want to shoot ourselves.![]()

I get my crowing in while I have the chance. And I was doing plenty of it before 10 last night.
Motzko may be sending some money to Colorado this week.
More controversy ensued in the last 90 seconds when an apparent Huskies’ tying goal was waived off by Klozowski, and the call stood after review. Apparently, the call was the referees had lost sight of the puck and the play waived dead. A visibly angry Motzko crossed the ice after the game to give Klozowski a piece of his mind, and he was held back by the rest of the officiating crew.
“We scored a goal,” said Motzko. “Everybody in the rink knows we scored a goal. There’s nothing else to say.”
Testwuide got an empty-net goal with 10.7 seconds left to seal the win. The Huskies were assessed a team unsportsmanlike conduct and game misconduct at the end of the game for Motzko’s questioning.
There needs to be some sort of a signal for when referees have lost sight of the puck. There are FOUR guys out there. Why is it that when ONE of them loses sight, the freaking whistle blows? That is total crap.![]()
I was there. Huge mistake by the officials. It should have been a goal, period. And the biggest concern is this, if he claimed he lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle, then why would you need to stop the game to review it. There would be nothing to see or change, correct? Sad, sad, sad. Add to that, that on one of CC's goals, they were clearly offsides, and it is hard not to "*****". I am not a big fan of crying, but teams and players put a lot into a season, and game results do not need to be altered by poor work by the officiating crew. I sense a letter of apology coming to SCSU on the blown calls. Lot of good that does for you.
While all that is true.... we played CC four times and we let them score 4 goals in EVERY SINGLE GAME and still were lucky to go 1-2-1. We could've easily lost both Friday night games, and you can't go on the road and give up 4 and 5 goals respectively in a series. We lick our wounds, sweep the Seapuppies, and then go from there.
Yeah the D needs to shore up a bit, but I don't think we were "lucky" to get those points considering we put of 4 goals or better in 3 of the 4 games and I'm sure CC isn't real happy with their D and goaltending against us last weekend.
We're averaging more than 4 goals a game since the break, that's a good sign.
Personally I think we can win 7 of our last 8 and the Cup is still within reach, keep digging and work hard, catch a break or two, and it's not a stretch to say we can win it.

That's a pretty lofty target. Could it happen? Sure, but I would be surprised if we swept UAA, Mankato, the Sioux, and split with Wisco. UAA we should sweep, let's hope their streak at the NHC doesn't end. The Sioux, no matter how they're playing, are always a dangerous team. I'll say split or 3 pts out of that weekend. We have had the worst luck and not played all that well at the Kohl Center, with the Badgers being as good as they are I would be content with a split, ecstatic with anything more and disappointed with anything less. We always have trouble with Mankato, should we sweep, yes....but that's entirely different than what actually happens. League title? It's possible but Denver is in the driver seat right now and the schedule is set up very well for them.
The bottom line is FTLT's target should be the goal. This team better get at least 10 points the rest of the year and if they get 12 or above they have a shot at the title.
For us to have a chance at the regular season title I believe we would have to take 14 out of 16 remaining possible points. Thats going to be tough with a trip to Madison and home series with the Sioux.
Looking at Denver's schedule the rest of the way, it is there's to lose. They would have to play way below average not win it.
The regular season title would be most awesome, but if it does not happen our next goal has to be finish in the top three. So we can play either Mankato or Alaska in the first round while avoiding the play in game at the Final Five.
Looking at Wisconsin's remaining schedule I guess one could make an argument for them to win the Title as well.
Duluth has the toughest road in my opinion of the top five teams.
That Denver, CC series at the end of the year might be a little entertaining!![]()
