Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Who cares about the polls?:p

I realize its not important, in fact I found it funny because I found out from a friend who texted me and was all excited. Its not important, but its hard to follow the logic of jumping up 7 spots after sweeping a nonranked opponent. I guess its because its Minnesota, pepole just saw we swept them and didn't bother to look to see how THEY were doing this year. :)

How can Bucky and Suzy be ahead of us in the polls when we're above them in the conference?

Same way Duluth's behind us in the polls but ahead of us in conference points... close teams in the standings, so you factor in who they've played/beaten, their non-conference record and opponents, and perhaps most importantly, how they look NOW vs. earlier in the year. Or, in the case of UND who we've got covered in every measurable facet (WCHA record, overall record, PWR, RPI, KRACH, splitting on their ice)... Native American bias? :D

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

thank you, Redhawk man. Now, what happened when you played Robert Morris? That was a complete shocker.

Your guess is as good as mine. Funnier thing is we only have 3 regulation loses and they are all to CHA teams...

Keep it up guys, I think this is the year you get over the hump. Just hope its not against us.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Uh oh, didn't they have UMD on the front page last week and then they got swept by Bemidji? Or does this mean that now we might be important enough to have someone at the NHC to do a write up for the rest of the games?

RHM, wouldn't it be great if you guys get the overall #1 seed and Robert Morris wins the CHA....watch out!

Guys- just wanted to congratulate you guys on your teams performance of late. Im glad we got you early as your team is playing extremely well right now. Good luck the rest of the way!

It's a good thing you guys choked so hard last year, takes the heat off of us. Thanks for that.

By the way, I've always wondered why you get your panties in such a twist about signing rep. I always sign my rep, you just have to have extra to see it - which apparently you have. Which makes me wonder even more why you get all hot and bothered about it.

not sure how it takes the heat off of you because we lost in the NCAA finals, but ok.

you've signed rep with someone elses name before, think its funny. Glad it bothers you enough....

Haha yea that would be remarkable, stranger things have happened. Wasn't it UAH or Niagra that went on a run and got in winning the CHA with a below .500 record? I would welcome the rematch, but don't see Bemidji coughing that up. :D

I would chalk it up to you guys being relevant late in the year. People are starting to take notice of the impressive run you have made recently. But with the added attention comes some added pressure, especially with the conference race in reach.

It's more likely because a lot of the teams in front of us split last weekend and we did sweep, and have been 8-0 since the new year.

I also think that most of the teams ahead of you have been there the whole year. DU, Miami, and UND have all been in the top 5 most of the year. And most voters in the polls feel they have done enough to stay there. I know everyone will question UND and they have struggled lately, no question about that... but there really is no dominant team in the top 10 to bounce out some of the mainstays IMO. Every time there's been an opportunity, a split of a series usually happens. Look at this last weekend, no team in the top 10 swept a weekend series, and there was what...3 total sweeps by teams in the top 20 this last weekend? Had you guys had a more consistent start to the season you probably would be another of the mainstays in the top 5.

No, I've not. Try again, spanky.

Oh, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It only makes me laugh at you harder.

That's what I'm saying, with so many splits, we could have moved up because of that, not that it matters though.

That is why the polls suck. If you are rated high from the beginning it is hard to fall a long ways if you play decent hockey even though your team might not be that great. That is why college football sucks. As much as people don't like the pairwise, it is way better than the BCS system.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Some questions for an inquiring mind... any input would be helpful.

First off, a friend and I decided to go see a high school hockey game this Thursday. She lives in Shoreview, and neither of us went to high school in MN, we just wanna go see a game. Our dilemma is who to go see; We wanna see a good game, and particularly I would love to see a team with anyone who's committed to a WCHA school. We're looking at Mounds View @ White Bear Lake, S. St. Paul @ Mathomedi or Woodbury @ Forest Lake. Would anyone recommend one of those games over the others, or a different matchup not to far away? I know Gaede of Woodbury's committed to MSU-M, not suer if anyone from any of the other schools either has committed or is a hot prospect to check out.

Second question, I saw that Potter wrote something thanking the student section for Friday's crowd. He said it was energetic, yet positive. I highly doubt it was any different than all the Gopher games before, but I wasn't there, so can anyone who was there tell me how things were?

Last question: Are the UND games going to require tickets for students? I've heard rumors both ways, but not from the most reliable sources, so wondering if I could get an answer from someone informed.

Last season i snagged a couple of student tickets so i could sit in the dogpound for the UND game, but they didn't check them at the dogpound like they did for the Minnesota games which I thought was weird. But yes, according to the SCSU website, as well as what they've done in the last couple of years, the UND games required you to go get a student ticket beforehand a la the Minensota games.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

in addition, does anybody know of groups of people going to the SCSU/UW series next month and staying in hotels down there? I was going to be hanging out with a friend in Madison and go to the hockey games with her, but a work thing came up and she's only able to go to the Friday game now. So I was just curious if there were groups of people going for that series that I could possibly meet up with and hang out/drink/party with for the Saturday game and afterwards. Otherwise I'll probably just drive back up here right after the Saturday game.
