Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

From the collegehockey stats box:

Could that be...with the hometown kid & all?

It probably means that they're SID was too lazy to count ticket stubs.. only been to that arena once and it's smaller than the old Cloquet barn from what I remember like 15 years ago.

I got the score from the Wisconsin website where they had an in game blogger following the action.

The in game blog said before the game started that there were about 200 people there with more filing in as the game began.

The piece on the Fighting Sioux web site says 1236. Probably capacity for a town rink.

I think they are talking about UW & BSU. (game played in Coleraine)

EDIT: BTW, I'd guess the Warroad rink where UND played Team USA can hold more than 1,236.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

After 1 period, it's Bemidji 1, Wisconsin 1. Keirstin Visser with the Beaver goal; Kelly Nash with the PP tally for the Badgers. Shots are close at 22-16 Wisconsin.

EDIT: Mallory Deluce scores 15 seconds into the 2nd period for the Badgers to take a 2-1 lead. Note that Bemidji's live stats are malfunctioning and listing that goal and continued play as still being in the first period.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

From the Badger live blog... Play was stopped due to an injury to Wisconsin's Olivia Jakiel with 3:31 still left in the second period and the Badgers ahead 2-1. The players have been sent to the locker rooms and the ice is being resurfaced.

Shots at this point favor Wisconsin 26-25.

EDIT: No word on the Badger blog about Jakiel's condition. (From blogger Jacqueline Boscacci: "There are a lot of questions about her, but I can't answer any of them. They have not said anything.")

EDIT #1A: From the blog: "She was smiling, so that's a good sign."

EDIT #2: With the downtime in the game play, the live stats are being corrected to list second period action as actually occurring in the second period. :p

In the other WCHA action today, it was UMD 2, SCSU 0 on Bulldog goals by Katherine Wilson and Mariia Posa. Jennifer Harss got the 24-save shutout for UMD, while St. Cloud's Tayler VanDenakker made 29 saves in a losing effort.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

The Badger-Beaver game got restarted after a lengthy delay to attend to Jakiel and then to resurface. No additional scoring in the second, but Breann Frykas scored halfway through the third period, giving Wisconsin the 3-1 win. Final shots were 41-36 in favor of the Badgers. Alannah McCready with 35 saves for Wisconsin and Zuzana Tomcikova with 38 for Bemidji.

Hopefully nothing serious for Olivia Jakiel
