Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

2nd period

NU 1
BC 0

NU records a 21-5 sog advantage in the 1st period according to GameTracker. Even sog so far in the 2nd.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Final

NU 3
BC 2

NU scores with :23 left according to GameTracker.

Based on the stats, it would seem like NU carried most of the play, but Boyles kept it close. Anybody who was there have any thoughts?

Hux and IceIsNice were there, and their thoughts are on chicken wings, so I'm sre there will be some commentary on the game and post-game snack in time;)

I hear the shots were 49 NU - 29 BC, but Hux said there were a number that weren't tallied for NU, and it might be closer to 52 for the Huskies.

Shots were 21-5 NU after 1.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

I was expecting a close game, but didn't necessarily think NU would be on the winning side due to strength of schedule so far. BC was the first real test. I wasn't at the game so to those of you who were, did BC play "badly" or is NU the real deal this year? What did ya think?

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Well in the polls thread there was a question if BU was the real deal to which people said definitely. BU eeked by RMU 4 to 3. NU shut them out. I think NU will go as far as their goalies will take them. The difference between this year and last year? A year for the goalies and a freshman class that can score. I would say NU will be back as a contender as long as Flint is there and can recruit.

While it's a little early in the season to put a lot of stock on common opponents, I agree that NU is starting from the coaching staff down, to put the right tools in the toolbox. Good coaching, recruiting, and teaching a winning attitude will bring NU back to where they started 30+ years ago. Always in the mix.

First of all, the wings were delicious!!! Hux will remember the name of the place, I don't, but it was only about a mile or so West of BC. Definitely should be added to the official dining board!!

Meanwhile, call me crazy but if NU should happen to run their next 5 games (Quinnipiac, Bemidji (2), Vermont (2)) this would make them 8-0-1 and probably gets them in the top 10. Okay, so, this next stretch may not be considered the strongest of opponents, but I guess I was very impressed with what I saw tonight. Other than the final 10 minutes or so, this was a relentless attack.

As Hux said, shots were probably greater than 50, and there were several outstanding saves by Boyles, or else NU might have tallied 5 or 6 instead of 3. The highlight save was probably the circus save at the end of the 2nd period. (I think Hux even got a picture of this one.....outstanding!).

BC definitely needs to find a way to tighten things up in their own end. Giving up 40 plus shots on goal is no way to string wins together, no matter who is playing goal..... Boyles, Schaus, Tim Thomas....it won't matter!

Lots of friends there at BC, I hope they turn it around, but for now NU looks like a far deeper club.

NU and BSU could be an interesting series. With great goalies on each side, goals may be hard to come by.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Quinnipiac 1 - BC 1 OT
SLU 2 - Robert Morris 2 OT Final (I think)
Mercyhurst 1 - RPI 0 Final
Union 6 - Sacred Heart 0 - Final
Toronto Aero's 5 - Brown 4 (little suprised by this one)
