Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

BC 0 - CU 0

Boston is slowwwwwwwwww to the puck. Clarkson is beating them most every rush. Tendler for Tech looks great. Welch for BC also looks great. Both goalies doing well. Boyles with some hot saves. BC had about 3-4 minutes of sustained pressure near the end of the 2nd, otherwise their offense has been mostly a clinic of hand skills by Allie. Bolden severely under performing IMHO - too tentative, sloppy passing.

And again, no one supplied the announcers with a pronunciation key. In other words, head, desk, head, desk.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

1-0 Tech on a PP goal from Selina.

Edit: Waldie gets credit (tip). Selina with the assist.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Ends in a 1-1 tie.

Re OT: Bolyes excellent. Burns also excellent. Bolden definitely picked up her game (must have read my earlier post :p)

The announcers..."It doesn't seem like BC has much of an offensive plan. Its like they dump the puck and run."

Biggest difference between Tech in this game and past seasons is that they are not playing like they are afraid to take penalties. Traditionally one of the lowest penalized teams in the country, they are playing a lot more aggressive. Going to have to learn when to and when not to take a penalty though. That and they are a lot speeedier.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Of course my B2 cut out just at the timeout was ending so I missed the last 22.5 seconds. I really hate B2 but I guess it's better than not seeing the games at all.

Boyles was definitely the player of the game as Clarkson finished with 45 SOG.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

From the box score, it looks like RMU won the goaltending battle for a 4-1 win over UMD despite being outshot 46-23.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

I don't think any team in Minnesota is going to ask RMU to play in their state any time soon. Recall the RMU 3-2 win at Minnesota last year. Or maybe the will require them to play the backup goalie.

You have to play someone, and at least early this season, I don't think there are going to be that many easy games. Good start for the CHA with the comfortable sweep by MC, RMU's split, Niagara's split in St. Cloud, WSU gets a tie from RPI today, and Syracuse was very competitive last night for a 2nd year program.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

UNH 4
Quinnipiac 0

Goaltender Kayley Herman initiated a beautiful goal, firing up the ice to Julie Allen, who fed a perfect pass to Brittany Skudder for the tip in on her first collegiate goal.

UConn and Northeastern playing about as even a game as you'll find. Shots 25-23 UConn, ending in a 1-1 tie. NU wins the shootout for the extra point.

Wondering why Sulyma has not gotten a chance in net yet, including the exhibitions...

Also, Chelsey Jones had another big game for Minnesota with 2 goals and an assist. She's looking like the player she was at NU.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

My sources at the game say that one of the goals was an own goal and that Wisco did have a goal waved off. Also bad officiating is the word.....but when isnt it?

You may recall that for awhile North Dakota was ranked in the top 10 last year. The girls work hard together as a unit all summer, they come in ready to play in mid-season form and their coach expects nothing but excellence.. I have heard he is tough , but fair. This year I understand they wore shirts with Wi. on it, and the date of game number one. They were ready to take advantage of the breaks that may occur in any game. Hats off to them , and every team in the WCHA has been served notice.
I think this is when teams that may have lesser talent ( on paper anyway, I would not say ND has less talent since I have not seen them yet) can win a big game like they did. It would be harder to pull off 5 games into the season in my opinion.
So, I hope my favorite team remembers this when it is their turn to take on the Sioux. ( Go gophers! nice sweep)
