Scores and Highlights 09-10

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Scoreless second period in Minnesota, still 2-0 Gophers. Best scoring chances of the period come on a 4x4 where the faster Gophers clearly excelled with the open ice.

Clarkson players are still getting hooked down left and right with very few calls being made. Then oddly enough, Clarkson got called for goaltender interference for very light contact with the Minny goaltender who inexplicably was leaving the crease to play a gloved puck on the PK.

The call was a slash, which came after the whistle. Penalties are 7 on Minnesota, 3 on Clarkson. I can see a complaint that Clarkson is not getting the bounces -- the calls, not so much.

You gotta be kidding me...

Clarkson has been just as physical as the Gophers, almost more so.

Even when the Knights should have been called for a trip the refs screwed up and nearly gave the penalty to Minnesota before matching them up.

The Gophers look like they are still battling the tryptophan from Thursday as they have had trouble controlling the puck and transitioning between offense and defense.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Scoreless 3rd period. Final score - Minnesota 2, Clarkson 0

A great defensive effort by the Gophers in the second and third periods. While Clarkson had the better of the scoring chances in the first, they were limited to 2 quality chances in the final 2 periods with most of the shots coming from the outside or bad angles.

West is an outstanding player, the best I've seen this year on an opponent roster. The goaltender also played well although she wasn't challenged after the first. Dahm played very well in net for CCT.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Badgers up 1-0 on Providence after one period.

Decker with the UW Goal from Nash.

PC has yet to put up a shot on goal.

I've been saying this for years :D And I don't think shes even close to peaking either. So much potential.....USAHockey missed out, maybe 2014 though eh?

Congrats Gophers. Sorry Knighters.....next time. :(

Maybe they wanted to eat their left overs last night. :D

Biggest difference in that game was MN's speed. Clarkson is very good and has great team play but aren't as quick as some other teams.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Badgers and Friars are tied 1-1 after 2.

The Badgers hold a 25-7 shot advantage and have controlled play almost the entire game.

The Friar goal trickled between McCready's legs as she was attempting to smother it. Second goal this weekend that has gone in that way...

Lacasse has really kept PC in this game however a fair number of the Badger Shots are not exactly what I would call quality. :(

qft. I think Cornell and Minny would be a better match.

Nothing at all against Dahm, fantastic goalie, but again, I would like to see KN get a rotation. Sometimes in these high pressure situations, a star is born. Anyway....

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Badgers win 4-1 to take the Victory over PC.

Badgers dominated on offense nearly all game but failed to convert until late in the third when PC seemingly wore to the breaking point and allowed three late scores (one was an ENG).

Badger Fans were strong in attendance with alot of alumni and player families in attendance both nights.

sounds like you were there. What was your take (moot point now, I know) on the PC goal? I was directly at the opposite side of the rink from where it went in, but I really thought I heard the whistle before the puck even made it to the eventual goal scorer. I thought it would be quite a travesty for the game to end tied on a play like that, but Wisco so clearly dominated that it was just a matter of time.

From what I saw this weekend, LaCasse put up a brilliant campaign for Hockey East Player of the Week, never mind Best defensive player.

Looks like Gotice has been getting to you.

Dartmouth over Vermont, 4-2. Nice win and congrats to the Big Green.
Likely you are aware it was 4-3,Dartmouth.

Too, Dartmouth web site describes it more like Dartmouth was lucky to emerge with this win:

"BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Dartmouth women's hockey team scored four goals in the opening frame, including two from senior co-captain Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.), but the 4-3 win didn't come easy on Saturday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse."

Two penalties for Dartmouth within last two minutes of the final period.

Shots: 7/4, Vermont in the third period.
(Shots 18/4, Harvard in Cambridge, final period.)

Agree/glad for this win and remain modestly hopeful.

Time out by D with less than two minutes to play.

I was on that end and from my seat I would have had a hard time giving PC the goal. I thought the puck was whistled dead before it went in, and I also thought I heard a whistle a few seconds before but until you mentioned it now I regarded it as either a fan or that I was hearing things...

Lacasse was good all weekend. Without her in net both games had the potential for getting way out of hand. I thought the Badgers looked sluggish and unfamiliar with the play around them Friday. On Saturday they seemed to pull through that and make PC play our style.

Dont blame this on me. Anyone who knows me, knows I stay away from that topic on the boards

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Does anyone have an update on UNH @ NU? Livestats died for me at the end of one w/ the Wildcats up 1-0 on the strength of a SH goal by Paton.

Re: Scores and Highlights 09-10

Birchard just scored a SHG with about 2 to go in the third to put UNH up 2-1 according to my text updates. Nice of Northeastern to have a shiny new Matthews Arena, and no working live stats. Thanks a million :p
