Scoreboard

Holy Cross has played BU three games in a row, spread out over four weeks: an OT win for BU; a regulation win for HC; and today's OT win for HC. Holy Cross also has a somewhat surprising win over Vermont early in the season. Other than that, I think today's score serves as a reminder that the Terriers aren't 7-15 by accident.

The most surprising result of the first day of conference tournaments, at least to me, was St. Michael getting its first win since defeating Post back in September. Saint Anselm will have to bounce back from the 4-3 loss if it wants to extend its season.

Vermont needed OT but advanced over UNH, 2-1.

Some other OT action, as BC and UConn each have 3 headed to extras and Cornell and Clarkson are 1-1 in OT.

It took 17:58 of OT in the third game, but Saint Anselm finally advances past surprisingly pesky St. Michaels.

Clarkson spots Cornell the first goal in the 2nd before scoring four of its own in a 4-1 win.

I am now watching the Princeton - Colgate game and WOW. I did not know that they allowed body checking and tripping with no calls. Thought I was watching a mens game at times.
It is 1-1 after 2 periods. SLU leads Quinny 1--0 after 2.

I didn't realize that Clarkson had received admission to the WCHA.

Franklin Pierce advances with a 4-0 win over Sacred Heart.

As far as the semifinals and the CHA finals are concerned, it's all chalk to this point.

Could not agree more. I watched the last two games on ESPN+ and could not believe what the officials allowed. I understand it's the playoff's but since when have they allowed players to get mauled, held, hit, tripped even when they don't have the puck. There was more body contact than in a USHL game. Not a great time to take skill out of the female game.

I just left a post on the Ohio State thread about that very issue. We need to make some noise to prevent serious injuries. The refs and the leagues are not protecting the players. As fans we should stand up and demand better!

If people circulate a petition, I'll give it to Greg Shepard the next time he's sitting eight feet from me.

That may help in our section of hockey land, but this is an NCAA issue and needs broader circulation than the WCHA. I am serious that we need to make some noise about this. Hockey is already a dangerous sport, on ice, and at speed. Players acting like goons need to be disciplined to the fullest extent of the rulebook. I know there are not many of us here on the forum, but how do we effect a change for the better?

Personally, I think that the direction officiating takes should primarily be dictated by what the players want. If players feel that too much is being allowed and they are at greater risk of injury, then the leagues should crack down and call games tighter, particularly with regard to physicality and dangerous play.

However, I've been surprised in this regard before. For example, when the question is whether to allow checking, it seems that there are more proponents among players than in the coaching ranks.

My hope would be that the sport would do two things. One, monitor the rate of injuries of players, in particular the serious injuries like concussions and fractures that result from collisions and look critically at whether lax officiating is playing a role. Second, survey all players on an annual basis and heed their feedback. I have my own ideas about what I'd like to see in women's hockey, but the interests of the players come far before that.

Was watching the streams of the games for the 3 ECAC playoff series Sunday and admittedly didn't really have rooting interests in the games other than hoping to see some good hockey. Saw the play you posted and was in disbelief that a trip that obvious was let go. And of course Q goes down and scores the tying goal. Not gonna say it cost SLU the game but man, that would have been tough to not blow a gasket on as a fan of SLU.
