RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Apologies - as this has absolutely nothing to do with RPI - but it appears that another longstanding Olympic tradition is being upheld...that being fraternization.:D

Apparently organizers have ordered an emergency airlift of condoms to the Olympic village, as the initial supply of 100,000 has run out.

If I didn't know better, I'd say DocD has made a road trip ! :D

Did they mention if these were extra large or not? :)

There were reports on the news of stores running out of condoms in the DC area when we had the two blizzards earlier this month.

And 9 months from now, NBC Nightly News will do a hard-driving news piece about the abundance of "Blizzard Babies"...

I would like to note my condomnation of this post. :D

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

I actually want to go to the game on Saturday because I've never been to Lynah, and I want to see what all the fuss is about (I mean, really, how great could a crappy 53-year old barn be? :p). Well, that and the potential for an awesome game with huge playoff implications.

I read that on Saturday night Cornell is honoring their 1970 NCAA Title team, along with retiring the jerseys of Ken Dryden and Joe Niewenduyk(I think I butchered that)..I'm assuming its their senior night as well. Lots going on, hopefully the Big Red is distracted.:D

I heard that the retirement of the numbers would be on Friday against Union. I'm hoping that all their energy is spent trying to win the game against the team with which they're tied. (I almost ended that sentence with a preposition!)

These games are going to be fantastic, and I really hope to be in attendance.

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Thats 33 out of a possible 34 games. Im thinking that last game is a home game vs a HE or AHA team. Also might see an exhibition game against a Canadian school or the U-18 team.

I recall reading that RPI and RIT are supposed to have a home-and-home in the 10-11 and 11-12 seasons. I think this coming year's game was going to be at home.

It's on the boards somewhere, I'll try and dig up the post at some point.

It's pretty regimented - hence "Pyongyang," since it's what we all imagine North Korea's a lot like it, a crappy old building full of people who do everything in lockstep.

Or, as a friend put it... "here's when we rattle newspapers. Here's where we all yell sucks and die."

Everytime I think RIT I just remember the 10-7 goalfest a few years back.

Ah yes, I'll never forget that one. One of the players told me afterwards - not sure how much he was kidding - that they were just toying with them for much of the first half of the game before they turned it on and blew them away.

The other thing I'll never forget is Lerch pitching a nutty on the air because RPI students fired up the safety school chant (which they are). He's honestly one of the funniest broadcasters around.

I remember my uncle who was at the game with me just shaking his head and laughing about how that was the craziest game he has ever saw. I was ****ed about how we could let a 1st year DI team score that many goals. But looking back on it now that might have been the highlight of that season

Beating a newly D-I team 10-7 a couple weeks later lost to D-III Oswego State. Heh.

I think you've won the page.

Isn't a sellout for RIT now what our normal crowd is?
