Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I agree, but only if your term "emergency" includes not only an obvious injury situation, but the possibility that the new blueline pairs might struggle. A risk that is not outside the realm of possibility given the questions about what Zarbo can do and the ages of Quinn & Curadi, if he comes this fall.

Given the numbers Seth has at forward, if RPI's defensive play becomes a weakness, I don't think they would hesitate to move him back.

PS: FWIW - I think Zarbo might surprise us. If Vines is half as capable as I think he is, I would bet that Mark's game has improved already - even if Jensen has out performed in gaining ice time. Zarbo skates well and he has a good shot. If Vines can clean up his decision making and positioning, he has may well surprise us.

I am surprised that Zarbo has only played in one game this year. He could, however, be counted on for next season.

That was my perception also, but he could always change his mind.

Seth did elaborate a bit by saying that Brutlag's strength was winning puck battles and that he keeps the puck alive for his linemates. I don't think he will go back to defense unless there is an emergency.

I don't know if I'd call a player's game going to Satan's lair as "emergency", but it was most definitely within my consideration. Why do we have such a forward prowess when compared to last year? Yes, yes, we have the People's Line, I know that, but also the fact that we have about 17-18 forwards competing for ice time in 12 slots. If that doesn't bring out a player's A game, I don't know what would.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

He is penciled in. :) As an '89, he isn't eligible for the USHL next year. Also his 5-year clock is running since he played for BGSU last year.

Write his name in ink, Ralph. Bailen is coming here next year.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I suspect that we will have several recruits visiting this weekend with the '85 team being honored. It's too bad that Oates apparently won't be there as recruits we are looking at now probably still remember him. They probably don't remember Puppa, or at least not when he had his best seasons.

Hopefully we will get the same great reports as when Leboeuf and Ming showed up. :D

Unfortunately, I will not be at the game this weekend (I take most of the credit for the Leboeuf and Ming reports...sorry Wicked, my species is more prone to busybody activities! :p ). I do, however, predict some interesting developments in the recruitment department over the next coupla' (not to be confused with copula) weeks. I have scouts in the field who will keep us apprised of any new developments ;) ...stay tuned to your usual research outlets!!!:)

Babo: I hope I didn't appear to take the credit for spotting them... it was definitely all you. If anything, I was trying to maintain your cover as a secret agent. :D I was just happy to help out confirming the I.D.s afterward...with RedHead's help.

You didn't appear do do anything of the kind...I have to establish some street cred among the intimidating group assembled here:eek: ! Big time pressure to contribute value since I know I'm receiving a rookie status pass that will dissipate right quick when RC & RB decide it's time.

Hopefully you and I can contribute street beat reports for anyone on the thread who isn't in attendance when we are (Hubster calls all of you my new 'peeps'...):D We worked well together on our last outing...

I, for one, am very impressed that you have attended games before ou son starts his RPI career.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

On Tuesday, the Olds Grizzlys defeated the Okotoks Oilers 7-4. Matt Tinordi scored two goals. http://www.ajhl.ab.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1705&leagueID=3464&gameID=714284

Tinordi's line is now 52-20-20-40-63.

Tinordi is on quite a little run - his line at the start of this thread (Christmastime): 36-11-10- 21- 40

That makes him 16-9-10-19-23 since then. I believe his offense started opening up a bit before Christmas, so his split numbers may be even stronger than the line since Christmas.

He's climbed up to #3 in scoring for Olds and 2nd in goals. I have felt that he is viewed as a replacement for Vassel. If so, I think that he will turn out better.

Does/did Vassel have a little brother? ;)
