RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I know very little about the recruiting process.
Would we pay for a visit by a player that was less than a 50/50 chance of coming to RPI?
Would a player come just for the visit?

Players are allowed to visit more than one school on official visits. I don't recall the maximum. As to whether or not we would pay for a visit for a player with a less than 50/50 chsnce of coming, it probably depends upon how good he is.

Re: LaLiberte...hasn't he already been to HFH for his official visit? The reason he may not have been there last night with Ming and LeBoeuf is that there is only one 'paid for' visit allowed? And yes, Wicked, that was both of them...

Thanks for the confirmation.

Before this is all over, FlagDude08, the swim will be your favorite dance and RPI will flash the "GOALsign!!!:D

IMHO, it probably isn't bad when you are at the game and people do something like the swim after goals (not too different from sieve chants), but it does get rather ridiculous on short video highlights to have about half the video taken up by that after every goal, especially the segements that are not even at the game.

The NCAA allows 5 official visits, starting at the junior year of high school. Contact from the coaching staff is limited to one telephone call per week (outbound...player/parent have no restriction on the # of contacts to the coaches.

OK, fine Ralph...I concede that it is an annoying little trifle...keep in mind that it's a VERY small market...the folks in town do like to see themselves on the highlights, even when they weren't at the game...kitchy but catchy. I hope one day RPI has a jumbotron and we can all see you do the swim for RPI! :p

Not sure if this is something you all follow or not...but it helps give a little perspective on the 143 teams in Jr. A hockey in Canada:

http://www.cjhlhockey.com/standings.html

the rankings are kind of like college football...no head to head. But the playoffs DO converge, so it has value.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Aren't reno's planned...should we take up a collection?
Sadly, I don't think a jumbotron is in the budget...we may need a bake sale, a car wash, and a collection ! Perhaps we can sneak it into the budget for Shirley Ann's new house...maybe hide it under the "Miscellaneous Audio- Video" line item..:p

The plans include a private box for SAJ so she doesn't have to hide because she's right behind the visitor's bench... Also a few offices, and expansion of the locker rooms (greatly needed, as I'm sure you've seen the facilities with your son, though most of it has been completed). Hopefully they raise the stage a bit (that rickety stage makes us play right into the glass anyway), and I know there's also a few people on the wish list for rounding in sections 11 and 12. That probably won't happen anytime soon, but who knows.

The locker rooms were expanded / renovated last year. The phase to commence this spring is mostly to do with an entire new exterior facade, lobby, box office, and as you mentioned, new construction in what used to be Sect. 1 -- to include a few clubhouse type boxes and coaching offices. There are renderings online as well as on display inside HFH.

Not sure about raising the band stand. Not showing up for a crucial home series is a great way to stay OFF of the priority list ...
