Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

The blog covering the Penticton Vees has an entry detailing the naming of a mammoth hamburger after recruit Luke Curadi. A few pictures of Luke enjoying "The Big Red Burger" are included. I think we'll need to get one of the local establishments to add this burger to their menu, when Luke arrives in Troy ! :D

I wouldn't mind tackling three half-pound patties with a decent load of fries, if they were to make one and call it the Curadi. Revolution Burger, eat your heart out. :D

I'm not sure I like the name Big Red Burger (AKA Pylon Burger). Then again, perhaps Curadi will make chopped meat of our visitors from the Finger Lakes.

I had the same thought about the name. :)

That is, if he isn't called for a triple minor for the Ithacans taking the fall, acting hurt, and getting indignant. :D Or perhaps Luke enjoys his burgers on the rare side.

Curadi Burger works for me...or maybe Gronk Burger... :D

Thanks for asking before RC gave me another faceslap. :D I should have said that it is a plus for JL staying in Cornwall if a former linemate is arriving.

I'll probably still get the faceslap. :D

Facepalm, Ralph.

Without A Peer has a feature about the presently known recruits, I'm sure Ralph will find nitpicky faults throughout.

Very good article. Me, nitpick? :D

Just one question, mainly directed to DrD, did we recruit Tapper #1 even partially in order to get Tapper #2? I don't think that Brad was on anyone's radar yet at that time his brother was recruited. They were more separated in entry years than either the Cavosies or Tinordis.

I only know what people have told me.

Well, it certainly could be true. I'll defer to you on that.

OK, a few nits. :D

1) Quinn will be an 18-year old Freshmen, not a 19-year old. He was born on 6/12/92. http://cchl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=3469326&seasonid=4693

2) How do you reconcile this statement
By the way, interesting little factoid - Bailen and Burgdoerfer make the 2nd and 3rd student-athletes to transfer to RPI from another NCAA Division I school since Seth Appert took over, Mark Zarbo being the first. Zarbo came from Bentley, Bailen from Bowling Green, and Burgdoerfer from Air Force, all known as the Falcons.
with your facepalm here http://board.uscho.com/showpost.php?p=4522623&postcount=991? :p

3) Just a question. I thought, like you wrote, that RPI does not use letters of intent. It has been posted here that RPI does now use LOIs. Does anyone know for certain whether or not we do?

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I will buy a round of beer at the Notty for anyone here when Ralph shows us JL's listing in the student locator. RC, I will ask you to remind of this offer when that great day arrives. :D

Forgot about this - I will make sure to call you on it, yes. :)

Nice work! One small addition just for historical accuracy - in reference to Pirri and O'Grady. Like JL and Higgs, they skated on the same line together last year at WJAC. Word is that Pirri suggested to Appert to look at Marty.

Ralph: Bryan Tapper was recruited on his own merit. he was considered a top prospect. He started out extremely well but suffered a serious back injury in his freshman year that was never well treated. He suffered the effects for years. I suspect he would have been far more effective at RPI had he been healthy. His younger brother Brad first got noticed well after Bryan was recruited. Once he became the offensive threat-obviously it was rather easy to convince him to come join his brother even if it was for only 1 year together. Brad was one of only 2 recruits that year (along with Glenn Coupal). Brad was heavily recruited but he comes from a very close family and really wanted to join his brother at RPI. Hence his number 52 (which was Bryan's number 25 in reverse).
