Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

vizoroo is at it again with back-to-back weekly wins!

Friday night was a bit of a barn-burner, at least relative to Saturday. RPI was led by the two eligible skaters that generated the only Engineer goal: scorer Todd Burgess (no one) and helper Mike Prapavessis (no one). The Irish had three skaters that earned 3 PtC points, but only Bobby Nardella (1-0–1; hawthr, lugnut92, vizoroo) was eligible to be selected. That said, goaltender Cale Morris (no one) was most valuable with a quality start and an assist on the ENG.
Saturday was bad. Goaltenders were the way to go, with Linden Marshall (QS; no one) leading the Engineers and Cale Morris (vizoroo) once again putting up 5 PtC points with the shutout. If you are a decent human being who doesn't pick opposing goalies, skaters Cam Morrison (1-0–1; lugnut92) and Andrew Peeke (0-1–1; FlagDUDE08, hawthr) were your best options.

It's time for our annual week of weird rules as the Engineers head to the UK for the Friendship Four tournament. We are guaranteed a game against the terrible people from Potsdam (10-3-1), and depending on Friday's result will take on either Maine (4-6) or Providence (7-4-1) in the championship or (let's be honest here) third-place game. Because of the uncertainty inherent in a tournament format, we have to use our tournament rules which are as follows: Pick ONE player from each of the four teams for the whole weekend. This means that you will pick four players and receive their points for their accomplishments in all four games (including the two games that do not include RPI). This week brings the temporary reinstatement of the one-goalie rule.

Picks must be in by 10:00 AM ET on Friday.

You may NOT choose the following players for this game:
RPI: Jacob Hayhurst, Evan Tironese, and Will Reilly
Clarkson: Sheldon Rempal, Devin Brosseau, and Terrance Amorosa
Maine: Eduards Tralmaks, Chase Pearson, and Rob Michel
Providence: Erik Foley, Josh Wilkins, and Jacob Bryson

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

I just realized that I've mistakenly implied that a goalie assist was worth 3 points in each of the last two weekend summaries, where they are actually worth 4 points. It doesn't really matter since neither goalie that earned the assist was picked and my program has the right scoring, but I just thought I'd clarify that.

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

RPI: Todd Burgess (how about I not pick someone ineligible...)
CCT: Jake Kielly
Down East: Brady Keeper
Plantations: Kasper Björkqvist

Last week, I had all the right players on the wrong days. Maybe this format will help ease that pain.

Clarkson-Dickenson
Maine-Fossier
Providence-Bjorkqvist

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

vizoroo is on fire with her third straight weekly win, this time joined by engineerhockeyfan! Further she has pushed into a tie for first place with me, and we'll say for the time being she wins the tie by virtue of more weekly wins (though that means I earned more "real" points and maybe that's really better...)

We're just going to break this down by team rather than going game by game because I said so.
RPI probably had the worst performance overall this weekend, with no one being worth more than 2 PtC points. Troy York (vizoroo) potted one of the two Engineer goals on the weekend and Linden Marshall (no one) earned a quality start in Friday's loss, but as I limited you to one goalie, he would have been an inefficient choice.
Similarly, Clarkson also had a goalie and skater tie for best possible option, but their Josh Dickinson (2-1–3; engineerhockeyfan) and Jake Kielly (QS + SO; FlagDUDE08, vizoroo, RPI fan 4 life, hawthr) were much more valuable than our boys in cherry. That said, you all still made the wrong choice in goalie...
The best named player in all of <strike>college hockey</strike>cawlidge hawkey, Hayden Hawkey (no one) also put up a first round shutout and was the goalie you all should have spent your remaining decency on, but life goes on.
Finally, Maine also had some players. Tim Doherty (1-1–2; no one) was the best of them. Cool.

Now that that weirdness is over, we can focus on hockey that actually matters as two other teams that apparently kind of suck travel to the Field House to hopefully turn into sweet, tasty ECAC points for us. RPI will take on Yale (3-6) on Friday before facing Brown (4-5).

Picks must be in by 7:00 PM ET on Friday.

You may NOT choose the following players for this game:
RPI: Jacob Hayhurst, Troy York, and Will Reilly
Yale: Joe Snively, Ryan Hitchcock, and Billy Sweezey
Brown: Brent Beaudoin, Charlie Corcoran, and Joe Maguire

Jumping slightly ahead, next week's New Hampshire game will be scored as a separate week from this one, so expect to make picks quickly at the beginning of next week.

I have never had the prestige of being in first 3 weeks in a row or the honor of being first overall (even if I'm tied with someone who has questioned my human decency.)
