RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

Not great guys. Congratulations to FlagDUDE08 on his meaningless win, and on being the only one of us to earn any points this week. Good thing it doesn't count.

Every player worth anything at all was worth 2 PtC points, but the only one selected was St. Mary's goalie Eric Brassard (FlagDUDE08), who stopped all but one of the 36 shots he faced. We all missed on the six skaters. Poor.

Real games (in two weeks...)! RPI will head to Columbus to kick off the 2017-18 campaign for a pair against the Buckeyes of tOSU. I'm just kind of assuming that none of their skaters will earn more than five points against Wisconsin next weekend, so we'll say that everyone is eligible (though if no one makes picks between now and next Sunday and someone happens to pass the bar, I'll change that).

Picks must be in by 7:05 ET on Friday, October 13.

You may NOT choose the following players for this game:
RPI: none
Ohio State: none

Statistics and Rosters
RPI: 16-17 Statistics | 17-18 Roster (Beware E./J. Öhrvall confusion)
Ohio State: 16-17 Statistics | 17-18 Statistics | 17-18 Roster (Beware K./M. Miller confusion)

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

Two Buckeyes put up four points on the weekend, but that's not quite enough to earn them ineligibility. So, feel free to pick any OSU player you want!

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2017-18

Does Joshua's shootout goal count? :)

Nope. The NCAA says the shootout doesn't count and so do I.<hr>Congratulations to Ralph Baer on the first weekly win of the season! I guess good things happen when you nail both RPI goal scorers on the weekend.

Friday night's game ended as a 1-1 tie, and the two goal scorers were each team's most valuable option: RPI's Jared Wilson (Ralph Baer, lugnut92) and tOSU's Dakota Joshua (no one). That said, goaltending was obviously the story of the game, with Chase Perry (no one) stopping 56 of 57 shots (oh and I guess the Buckeye did decently too).
The story Saturday was much the same as Friday, but with both goals being scored by forwards, it was an even duller affair, scorewise. The Engineers' goal was scored by the inevitably ineligible Evan Tironese (Ralph Baer, FlagDUDE08), and the Buckeyes' by Christian Lampasso (no one). Once again, both goalies were good for quality starts, but no one picked them.

Two ties fresh in our back pocket, the Engineers are off to Western NY for a pair against Atlantic Hockey teams. Friday will see RPI take on the Purple Eagles of Niagara (1-1). Will RPI earn another tie? Will we score more than one goal? Will the pep band ever get the money they're owed by Niagara? We'll see.
The next night, RPI (is that Rochester?) will take on RIT (that's Rensselaer, right?) in the never-ending battle for three-letter starting with "R" upstate engineering supremacy. The Tigers are also winless and lossless on the season, with a single tie against Northeastern this past weekend.

Picks must be in by 7:05 ET on Friday.
