RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

The #26 fans think that he shouldn't be.

Be that as it may, he was not issued a game DQ, and there is no news release from the ECAC stating anything of the sort, so he's eligible. And even if he weren't, how many of us would pick him for Saturday? ;)

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

Congratulations to RPI fan 4 life on his third weekly win of the season!

Drew Melanson (RPI fan 4 life) spearheaded the RPI winning effort with a pair of goals, including the empty netter to salt away the game after Brown made it interesting. Speaking of making it interesting, Brent Beaudoin (no one) scored the extra attacker goal for the Bears. Both goalies earned quality starts.
Three RPI skaters earned a pair of Pick to Click points, as Drew Melanson (lugnut92) and Viktor Liljegren (no one) scored goals and Mike Prapavessis (Ralph Baer) tacked on an assist. Once again, RPI allowed an extra attacker goal, this time to John Hayden (RPI fan 4 life), who also scored the overtime game-winning goal for Yale. What a jerk. Chase Perry (no one) put up his second quality start of the weekend.

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

Link back to the first post with details on scoring

Another pair of home games brings the North Country to the Capital District, as RPI faces off with Clarkson and SLU this weekend. Both schools are hovering right around .500, so these are games RPI is going to have to win if they want to start a push up the standings. Meanwhile, we all want to see if RPI can continue (begin?) to get scoring from people other than the big three ineligibles listed below.

Picks must be in by 7:00 ET on Friday.

You may NOT choose the following players for this game:
RPI: Evan Tironese, Riley Bourbonnais, and Jared Wilson
Clarkson: Jordan Boucher, Sam Vigneault, and James de Haas
SLU: Joe Sullivan, Jacob Pritchard, and Gavin Bayreuther

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

lugnut and others,

Have you considered adding the women's games to the contest? Another possibility is replacing the opposing team's players with our women's teams. Then it would not be necessary to root for players from the other schools.

I've thought about setting up a separate game for the women's side or combining it with this, but I always figured there wouldn't be enough interest and it'd end up being a contest between three or four posters. Also, while I follow RPI's women's program and recognize a few names on other ECAC teams, I personally know very little about individual players on other teams and would only ever pick the top names on the score sheet.

I agree that a separate game for the women wouldn't work for the reason which you mentioned. You may even be optimistic to think there would be three or four posters. That's close to 10% of the game attendance. :)

I was thinking maybe you, me, and hab. FlagDUDE may come over too, especially as his strategy doesn't require much thought for the opposing team.

Anyway, my picks for this weekend:

Friday
RPI ENGINEERS: MIKE PRAPAVESSIS
Une minute, et Clarkson craignait: Sheldon Rempal

Saturday
RPI ENGINEERS: DREW MELANSON
Billikens: Carson Gicewicz

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

RPI: Reilly
Clarkson:Gervis

RPI: Prapavessis
STL: Hayton

(Bye week is over. Worth 19 points in USCHO Poll.)

And I didn't even go through the Game Theory course they offer at the 'tute! Wonder if they still actually offer that...

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

Thanks Lugnut on the congratulations. :)

Tonight:
RPI- Drew Melanson
And Clarkson...- Troy Josephs

Tomorrow:
RPI- Jacob Hayhurst
SLU (m)- Drew Smolcynski

And I would be interested in a women's PtC.

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2016-17

Three-way tie at the top this week, as FlagDUDE08, Ralph Baer, and RPI fan 4 life all earn the bonus point. Hooray! That said, we all did real bad this week, topping out at three points of a possible 11 (plus one).

Brady Wiffen (1-0–1; no one) and Jacob Hayhurst (0-2–2; Ralph Baer, MavHockey14) led eligible RPI players on Friday. For those that suck, a whole bunch of players earned three PtC points. Among them was Troy Josephs (1-1–2; RPI fan 4 life). No one picked any of the other five. We're good at this.
RPI's only scored one goal on Saturday, and Patrick Polino (no one) was responsible. The Saints marched in behind defenseman Nolan Gluchowski (no one), who assisted on two of the road team's goals.
