RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Right here! Hopefully we'll do well tomorrow.

I assume their plan for streaming hockey will be the same as football - there will be a page provided in advance of the stream that starts streaming at a specific time. There's no reason for it to be any different than the football setup - it will probably have more viewers but the site is hopefully prepared to handle lots of viewers streaming at once. I am hoping the fact that our games are going to be streamed free in high quality is being promoted to alumni, especially those who can't ever make it to games in Troy. It's a great way for people to continue to follow RPI hockey which I think is good for both the team and the school.
I don't recall any message about it.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

In honor of Greg Burgdoerfer and Toni Sanders, today is 22 September 2012. There are 14 days (2 weeks) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

It looks to me like 17 to 20 wins. Our goaltending needs to get much! much! much! better. If that in fact does happen and our goaltender can steal a couple of games for us I could easily see 20+ and a deep run in the playoffs but thats a big if because our talent @ that position is very young and can as easily give one away as they can steal one. I really don't see talent at any position being an issue we have both talent and now size throughout the line up. So the question is "Compete Level" for the younger guys how quick can they get up to speed ?. I look for us to have some good weekends and some bad weekends in the first half, but if we start stringing some wins together approaching the Christmas break thats going to be an indicater. If that happens we may all be pleasantly surprised and I stress IF ! Another indicater is we need to be a much better team @ Home last year we were a good road team and our biggest wins came on the road (Clarkson playoffs,Colgate,Cornell series etc.) we absolutly need to start getting it done @ home think of the winable games we gave away and the games we didn't even show up for at home last year and what our season would have look liked if we had taken care of business ! Lets Go Red !!!!!!!!

Sounds like the cool-aide your brother and you were drinking over the summer is starting to wear off a little for you. I agree we need to play much better at home this year. BTW did you p/u your tickets today?

No. It's likely more familiar to people as "Teach me how to Dougie", but I have an appreciation for late 18th century French art, or at least Joseph Ducreux, so I much prefer the meme. "Dougie" is a dance move that is derived from the Hip Hop number by Cali Swag District called "Teach Me How to Dougie", and it was revealed during last year's secret habits video that Luke is a "part-time Dougie instructor, pro bono".

Perhaps they can teach them how to do "The Billy"!!

For the RPI football fans at the end of the half--RPI 25 and WPI 10 even with us making too many mistakes to count (we have had bad snaps on 3 of our 4 TDs).

FYP. ;)

Actually, the team isn't doing too badly. We had another slow start, though. We need to figure out how to play a 60-minute game, or else Hobart will burn us early.

Where is Kurt and whoever that is who is in the booth with him? (I wonder if there was a long line at the John during halftime.)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

I don't recall any message about it.

We have been kind of quiet up until this point, but we just about ready to announce it. RKarger nailed it on the head - it is one thing to stream to a couple hundred people, but its a much different thing to deliver a good experience to what we hope will be a good sized audience. We will be releasing more details shortly (Live DVR / Streaming to set-top boxes and other devices, multibitrate live streaming, ect...).

Looks like a final RPI 39 WPI 17 as the Engineers beat the Engineers and we are now 3-0. We truly need to stop making mistakes though-as FD said-Hobart or Springfield will just pounce all over us if we make errors. I am surprised that we are 3-0 and just glad we have 2 more games to sharpen up a bit before facing the toughest part of the schedule.

Speaking as a real old timer here-after living through RPI football in the early and mid 60's, being 3-0 ever is fantastic. All credit given to a program that has seen some turmoil of late with coaching changes etc.

Interesting to note that Alfred, whom RPI beat handily the first game of the season, beat Buffalo State on the road this afternoon, 40-17.

All Buffalo State did last week was beat Wisconsin-Whitewater.

All Wisconsin-Whitewater has done recently is appear in the Division III championship game the last seven - count 'em, seven - years in a row.

As usual in Division III-anything can happen on any day-and anyone can end up beating anyone (except for Mt Union).:) We have done what we have had to do in the first 3 games-but we have got to do all the little things better to handle either Hobart or Springfield. Watching on RPI TV is just great though-but it highlights the fact that outside of quarterback, we are a very smallish team. That could present some problems especially with Hobart who likes to run the ball down your throat all day. (Hobart has 8 players on the roster at 290+ with 4 being 300+) For right now-it is just fun to be undefeated.:D

My job on campus is calling alums for the Annual Fund - I've mentioned the streaming to anyone who I talked to about hockey who lives too far away to go to games. :D I hope the streaming goes well this season and only gets better - I'll certainly be taking advantage of it in a couple years when I graduate if I'm not close enough for season tickets. :)

You weren't the one who called me a few days ago, were you?
