RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

In honor of Mari Mankey, today is 20 September 2012. There are 16 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

Prediction time-How many total wins does everyone feel we get from the Engineers this year? Including playoffs (but not the exhibition) I am expecting 22. (but hoping for 24+):)

I'm sad to say that I do not share your optimism. I think we will be battling for a .500 overall record right down the stretch. I am more optimistic about our ability to pull off some upsets in the playoffs and make it to Albany before flaming out. I think our tremendous forward depth will help us fight through the ECAC grind in the 2013 calendar year.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Here are my projections for lines to start the season (noting that O'Grady will not be playing for the first few weeks):

Lee-Higgs-Tinordi
Haggerty-Laliberte-McGowan
Schroeder-Zalewski-Burgdoerfer
Bubela-Rogic-Neal
(Fulton, Miller, Commers next in line -- in that order)

Bailen-Curadi
Leboeuf-Bradley
Dolan-Leonard
(Bokenfohr, Hampton next in line -- in that order)

Merriam/Diebold split time for the first month
Kasdorf

Hopefully Laliberte and Neal can open up their scoring after having a brutal start to their college careers injury-wise. If they can, I think it will lead to a lot of production from Zalewski and Bubela. I like that we can have an experienced top line without having to ask the freshmen to be our first option. I think Tinordi is poised for a big year.

Just for fun, here's my guesses at our forwards' point totals:

Higgs: 5-25-30
Lee: 10-5-15
Tinordi: 10-10-20
Burgdoerfer: 5-5-10
Haggerty: 15-15-30
Laliberte: 7-18-25
McGowan: 12-8-20
Schroeder: 3-10-13
Zalewski: 8-12-20
Bubela: 4-6-10
Rogic: 3-7-10
Neal: 5-10-15
the rest (combined): 3-7-12

For the d-men (even more wild guessing):

Bailen: 10-20-30
Leboeuf: 4-6-10
Bradley: 3-10-13
Dolan: 3-8-11
Leonard: 2-6-8
Curadi: 1-4-5

(All those total up to 113 goals. Assuming 4 playoff games, that would be 38 total games, for 2.97 goals per game. Probably a bit high -- would have been 20th in the nation last year -- but not totally out of the question.)

Albany? Oh yeah, Union on 1/26. ;)

knsmith,

I won't hazard a guess on what the lines will be except for a Haggerty, Laliberte, Neal line. I am in agreement with you as to the way the goalies will shake out and who our top six are on D. As for forwards, I don't expect to see much of Burgdoerfer. I think that we will see Miller instead unless SA has just been talking him up. IMO, he will replace Malchuk.

For a promotional video, they should see if the BRO will present instruction on how to Douglas.

Excuse my ignorance, but does "Douglas" refer to a hockey technique of some sort?

Doc, we are solid on defense and in goal. Offense really disappointed last season, so I expect a big rebound from that group this year. But, even with all that, I will be happy with 18 wins going into the playoffs. After that, I will not make any predictions as that is a whole new season.

Since my 22 includes the playoffs and your 18 does not-sounds like we are pretty close.:)

20-16-3 final record.

Are you counting the women in this prediction?

Men, I'd say 17.
Women, maybe around 14 or so.

No. It's likely more familiar to people as "Teach me how to Dougie", but I have an appreciation for late 18th century French art, or at least Joseph Ducreux, so I much prefer the meme. "Dougie" is a dance move that is derived from the Hip Hop number by Cali Swag District called "Teach Me How to Dougie", and it was revealed during last year's secret habits video that Luke is a "part-time Dougie instructor, pro bono".

Sad to say i don't follow the women anywhere near as carefully as the men. Just don't enjoy the style of game as much. But to answer, no-I fully expect an upward surprise this year from a more experienced and competent defense and goaltending group. The offense will need to do much more than last year but i think the pieces are all there. Besides, looking at the schedule, I see us competitive more often than not.

Jen and I are by no means art experts or collectors-but we do enjoy an down a small collection from Alfred Brunel De Neuville-as animal lovers we have collected his works with cats and dogs. Thanks for the posting and the explanation-I learn so much from these threads!:)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

We will win every game and Laliberte will find his Cornwall scoring touch and light the league and NCAA up for 110 points......and then I will wake up. :) Really, I see 17-20 wins, home ice in playoffs.

Is RPI-TV streaming football tomorrow?

Also, to try to put this somewhat on topic, what is the plan for RPI-TV's streaming of hockey?

Right here! Hopefully we'll do well tomorrow.

I assume their plan for streaming hockey will be the same as football - there will be a page provided in advance of the stream that starts streaming at a specific time. There's no reason for it to be any different than the football setup - it will probably have more viewers but the site is hopefully prepared to handle lots of viewers streaming at once. I am hoping the fact that our games are going to be streamed free in high quality is being promoted to alumni, especially those who can't ever make it to games in Troy. It's a great way for people to continue to follow RPI hockey which I think is good for both the team and the school.
