RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

No RPI coverage on NBCSN this year. Decent ECAC coverage.

Shame, I really enjoyed working with the NBC crew when the truck came out to Troy last year (twice!) . The Field House is one of the more TV accessible rinks in the league, much more so than Messa or Ingalls which are hosting TV games this year. I'm not sure how much money is a factor in getting NBCSN to televise a game; based on the variety of TV hosts I'd imagine NBCSN is doing their coverage pro-bono.

In other RPI hockey-watching news, look at the poster that was up at Hockey Line tonight!

Seems like we're going to get the high quality RPITV streams everyone's wanted for quite a while now. :)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Just got back from the Hockey Line Celebration at the Field House. I was served ice cream by Merriam (who convinced me that the rainbow colored ice cream was vanilla), and given raffle tickets by an assortment of freshmen (I would give names, but I haven't had time to memorize their faces). The freshmen also sang a rousing (read: awful and tone-deaf) version of Hail. Finally, I had a nice discussion with (our great) Coach Appert about captains. He said he would tell us about captains when he names them. I got him to listen to my speculation (Bailen and Higgs/Lee/O'Grady). I also asked about Marty's injury, and like before, he said we should expect Marty back some time in November. Anyway, it was great fun and I can't wait for the season to get underway.

In honor of Chris Bradley and Brandi Banks, today is 12 September 2012. There are 24 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

You will, but we probably won't. I wouldn't be surprised if this means the "free streams" will be on the closed circuit network you have there, which, IIRC, is something that has been done there for quite a while now. At least when I was there, the audio on that channel was WRPI, so that's how I would check out the away games.

I can't say that I blame them for wanting to do it, given last year's run; similar to how we get to the tournament and therefore get two home games. Granted, this is probably the last year that NBC will be showing ECAC hockey, unless one of us decides to play a non-con vs. Notre Dame.

Looks like decent Ivy coverage to me.... :( no games for Colgate, SLU, Clarkson or RPI and its likely Union got two games because they are defending league champions. Cant say im all that surprised though. Hopefully TW will pick up a handful of RPI games again this season.

As a note of comparison, how many televised games did we have during the 2009-10 season?

It's cut off, but the bottom of the poster said "Visit us at www.rpitv.org". That doesn't really mean much, but "streaming" is a weird word to use if they're saying every game will be on campus TV. Perhaps one of the RPI TV alums knows?

Also speaking of RPI TV alums and the cut-off bottom of the poster, the picture on the poster's credit goes to RHamilton. :D

And yes, the bottom has the RPITV website so I would assume that's where the streaming will be hosted, which implies it'll be available off-campus as well. They livestreamed last Saturday's football game, so I assume the hockey setup will be similar.

The fact that RPI is not listed under the College section on America One's website also seems to confirm this.

Did anyone note if the Frosh sang the original version of the fight song or the PC version?

That sounds like it. Any rumors about the women's games?

We're no longer with B2? That's terrific news, especially considering they can't handle our awesomeness, and we had to pull multiple strings at Atlantic City just to get them to accept our awesomeness.

I figured the website would be just be informational, and that everyone would still have to use B2 or school-provided means. I'm sure that the CCTV would broadcast the stream as well, though.

EDIT: The RPI Athletics website still lists America One as a sponsor, though I'm not sure how much stock I'd put into the website. Does B2 list any other D-I hockey colleges and their upcoming games?
