RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

RPI 14 Alfred 6 at halftime.

Now 24-6 and this has to be considered an upset. No one had predicted RPI was going anywhere this year. The big team in the Liberty League is Hobart (2-0 already) and nationally ranked. Hope we can hold on today!

Watching RPI TV for the football game just points out what a wonderful job they do-and how much I miss them covering the hockey games. Final RPI 24 Alfred 6.

The football team drew more fans when they didn't win in the 1960s. Then again, so did the hockey team. :(

I suppose we just remember a time when the entire campus was so different. There were times in the past that you could not get an extra ticket to an RPI hockey game-and even when the football team had not won in about 44 straight-the '86 field was crowded for that win over Middlebury that broke the streak. Just very different times with a different make up for the undergrad classes and perhaps a lot less interference with other things to do in Troy. Personally, I just do not get it, but i am decades removed from how the students are now.

In honor of Marty O'Grady, today is 9 September 2012. There are 27 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

It's not other things to do "in Troy", per se. ;)

Craig Bokenfohr is on the RPI golf team http://www.rpiathletics.com/roster.aspx?path=golf&. That implies that he is not on a athletic scholarship unless he isn't playing this season which seems doubtful, or the rules have changed which seems even less likely.

Edit: He shot 80 and 72 over the weekend http://www.rpiathletics.com/sports/2012/9/9/MGOLF_0909125413.aspx?id=3489.

I can honestly say that I have never seen anybody hit their driver as long as this kid. tb can attest to that. He hit a ball at least 340 yd. during the golf tourney.

Did he have a running start with it? :p:D All I can think of is Happy Gilmore hustling a driving range.
