RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

That's got a nice ring to it Ralph! The long off season is drawing to a close...can't be soon enough!

Wonder if anyone out there has heard anything from Capt. practices?? Glimpse of the frosh, etc. ?

Or possibly even who the captain(s) is/are?

I didn't get a chance to watch any of the frosh in the USHL or other leagues last year.

The RPI women's hockey website shows Friday October 5th as first game vs UConn. Is that an error on their part?

The women start a week earlier than the men; I'm not going to bother to go cite the exact by-law, look up the Division I rule book if you want it. What does surprise me, though, is that they are not playing an exhibition game.

They can start a week earlier, but in RPI's case they are only starting one day earlier.

In honor of Nick Bailen, today is 7 September 2012. There are 29 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

Has anyone here watched a Captain's practice this year?

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Does anyone even know who the captains are yet?

No. A matter of fact I was just looking at SA's twitter page where he tweeted yesterday, in response to a question by the First Church, that they haven't been picked. So at least officially, they have not been selected.

Captain's practices apparently don't require a Captain. :)

It makes me wonder if this is building from the second half of last year, when Coach determined that he needed to be more active in asserting control (a VERY loose paraphrase, I can't remember exactly what was said), and that we may see some form of rotating captains, similar to what the Sabres had in the mid-2000's after Stu Barnes was traded. Obviously Coach can't have practices until the 6th of October, but perhaps he discusses "practices" with a senior.

I suspect that Captain(s) will be chosen. Remember when the Cubs had no manager but rotated several coaches? (No, you're too young. :D ) It didn't work.

Edit: Time sure flies. That was over 50 years ago! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_of_Coaches

I will volunteer if they need one. Most of the guys love my input on how they play already. Especially when ya got a 12 pack in ya !!!!!

Of course, that's when they know I'm really telling them the truth of what I think of their game!

Have you requested 11/9 off yet for our Dartmouth/Harvard trip yet? Looks like the assit prof might be able to go. Guess he and the lady maybe on the outs.
