Do we have a tailgate here in NYC on the 27th if Ralph is in town ? My family and I live in Albany, but I work in NYC all week and am Park / 51st (midtown east). We should try to get some people together to the extent that we can.

53rd & 7th, don't mind walking.

Depending on weather, could either find a place indoors or find a good street vendor and eat outdoors.

Today is 16 August 2012. There are 51 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

I don't get it... ...as usual.

Obviously oblivious to ethnic stereotypes.

"what did you make for dinner tonight, honey?"

-- Reservations

The joke about foreplay, I'll let someone else finish.

Hmm..."obviously oblyvious" would be a great anagram....if only.

The US does not send its best age-group players to the Ivan Hlinka tourney (e.g. no USNTDP players). They want to give others a chance to experience international competition. There are clearly plusses and minuses with that.

BTW, it will be intersting to see how the Waterloo Black Hawks team from the USHL does in Russia over the weekend. http://mhl.khl.ru/en/worldcup/ They are from Waterloo, NY http://mhl.khl.ru/en/worldcup/teams/220/137491/. :D (Not as bad as the Sadbury Wolves (OHL).)
just one writers opinion on the U-18 team that was chosen but the supposed "chuckling" by a couple of players' comments at the end of article is curious non-the-less.....................The US Select-18 team is essentially done at the Ivan Hlinka Tourney. With an 8-6 loss to Finland yesterday, the US will have to play for 7th place in the tournament. The event started out promising, with the US taking a very strong Russian team to overtime, but ultimately falling a shootout, after Adam Erne failed to convert a penalty shot in overtime. The wheels came off in the next two games, and by all accounts, the US team looked really bad. It's not a huge deal because the United States usually sends their 'B' team to this tournament. What's frustrating is that this was essentially a 'C' team thanks to USA Hockey choosing to play politics over hockey with the roster. There were a couple players yesterday chuckling that their 'punishment' for turning down the NTDP was not being a part of that train wreck. http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog.com/2012/8/16/3246819/linkorama

Nevertheless I think that it is great experience for Drew Melanson. If nothing else, he has found out how losing feels after playing for Delbarton.

I was going to post an entire list of those on the puns thread-but figured we needed a little levity here before we get down to the seriousness of the season. getting down to the 7 weeks to go point but it is sure dragging.

There's a languishing thread in the cafe called "stereotype vs prejudice" that would be perfect. I was trying to explain the distinction to my teen-age son, that stereotyping is based on experience and is somewhat understandable as a natural human response while prejudice is based on an emotional reaction from our dark side.

We had a lot of fun with various ethnic jokes back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and no one imagined they'd be offensive; I'm part Irish and I'd laugh as much as anyone else at the Irish jokes because I recognized the truth in them! :)

My favorite was about the grand train station in Dublin. They had a magnificent atrium there, a vaulted waiting area with two marvelous clocks, one at each end.

A prim, proper, stuffy British tourist was visiting. He pulled out his pocketwatch, looked at one clock, looked at the other clock, looked at his watch again, frowned, and asked to speak to the station manager.

The station manager asked him, "and how can I help you today sir?" (this is so much better orally since you get to insert the brogue...)

"Your clocks don't have the same time on them. One says 10:02 and the other says 10:04."

"and what would we be needing two clocks for, if they both had the same time?" was his reply. :)

How much longer are we stuck with America One? Does RPI-TV at least get to still use the system that they had for the ECAC championships?
