RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: The Final Countdown
Do you think that we should have a Part III or should the next thread be the first 2012-13 thread?

If we generate 157 more posts between now and when the season starts, we could have the next thread be "Pre-Season / Early Season Thread" instead of "Off-Season III"
Just a thought.
We tried that in the 2009-10. We were into Part II by the time the season started.

I guess it all depends on whether you will be vacation without access to a computer, or not...![]()
We seem to go in spurts. Sometimes, there are three countdown posts in a row, and sometimes we have three pages of posts in one day. It's hard to predict what will happen here.
I'm not the only one who makes an excessive number of posts on this board...![]()
I am going to NYC a week from Saturday.![]()

The writeup and boxscore for today's Ivan Hlinka game http://www.usahockey.com/Template_Usahockey.aspx?NAV=TU_04_02_05&id=318480. No mention of Melanson. The US plays Slovakia, whom they beat in an exhibition contest, on Friday for 7th place.
It's certainly a great honour for any RPI player or recruit to have a chance to play for their national team, but with competing for 7th in this tournament, as well as going to relegation in WJC, I'm beginning to wonder if there is something amiss with USA hockey that we aren't medal competitive anymore.
The US does not send its best age-group players to the Ivan Hlinka tourney (e.g. no USNTDP players). They want to give others a chance to experience international competition. There are clearly plusses and minuses with that. It's certainly a great honour for any RPI player or recruit to have a chance to play for their national team, but with competing for 7th in this tournament, as well as going to relegation in WJC, I'm beginning to wonder if there is something amiss with USA hockey that we aren't medal competitive anymore.

BTW, it will be intersting to see how the Waterloo Black Hawks team from the USHL does in Russia over the weekend. http://mhl.khl.ru/en/worldcup/ They are from Waterloo, NY http://mhl.khl.ru/en/worldcup/teams/220/137491/.(Not as bad as the Sadbury Wolves (OHL).)

Will you be in Manhattan on Monday, Aug 27?
Perhaps we could meet for lunch in mid-town?
