Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

So we can clear up any confusion:

The RPI HOCKEY PARENTS WEEKEND IS OCTOBER 12-14. It is obviously different from the school's parent weekend...My source for the dates is Seth Appert.

Now that we've cleared that up...the invitation stands.

October 12th vs the Ferris Buellers, eh? Tailgating at HFH... Sounds like a plan! :D

Today is 19 August 2012. There are 48 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

Wicked...hope this is early enough notice for you to make the Tailgate!

Should be perfect. Its before deer camp and after our annual trek to Lambeau !! Might have to whip up some BBQ on the smoker! Pulled pork anyone?? Brisket?

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

I complained all last season that I was unable to find out much about Charles Manley of the Selects Hockey Academy (South Kent). It turns out that several of the games are on YouTube http://sks-amg.org/?cat=10. I have only looked at a few minutes of a couple of them. Manley should be #22. The team will be playing a league this year http://www.usehl.com/. However, I suspect that Manley, who turned 16 last month, will be playing on an older age level team.

Edit: Manley is expected back. http://www.southkentschool.org/article.php?id=498

For what it is worth, TBRW's algorithm is predicting RPI to finish 5th. http://www.tbrw.info/seasons/2013/2013_Predictions.html

Edit: If that doesn't work, go to http://www.tbrw.info/seasons/2013/2013_Index.html and click ECAC Predictions under Features,
as far as the top 4 goes in their predictions that's what I am going with (with Cornell in 1st though) when the pre-season Poll is taken in this Forum.....they're a little more generous then I would be with the Cherry & White though :o

Just in case you didn't notice, it isn't Greg's predictions but an algorithm (which he seems to change almost every year) described in the "Never Apologize, Never Explain" link. RPI benefited from a second half improvement, an upset win in the playoffs, and most of the important players returning.

Of course it's an algorithm; I wouldn't expect any subjective yet neutral source to put us above 9th.

understood. "predictions" was a poor word choice on my part.

This uninvited Tailgate guest finds the trip from Southern Cal to be a bit too far. But being born a fifth generation Texan, I would vote for the brisket. Good either sliced or chopped for sandwiches--Yum!

I'm with you -- brisket rules. My experience is that its harder to do it well..pork is more forgiving (thank you pork fat!)

Perhaps, when we get closer to the event, a pole on these matters would be a good idea?

Personally I am not ready to make any fearless forecast for this year. But i must say that I am very optimistic. I expect us to be an exciting difficult team to play against with a number of players who will not back down when challenged. i like our chances.:)
