Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

Next time I hear you or someone complaining about not recruiting the USHL or Western Canada enough, I'll refer you back to this post. Bottom line is it takes money to recruit, equip and field a legit D1 team.

I won't give a penny until the fascist who disbanded the faculty senate for bringing up a no confidence vote is gone.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part II: (Insert Title Here)

Today is 14 June 2012. There are 114 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

....or who got rid of the Grand Marshal. Sorry but since the school just built her a new palace, I don't think she's going anywhere!:(

I believe they extended her for a decade.

No one should give that place money so long as she is in power.

Incorrect. The Board of Directors built her a new shack, out of their own pockets. No school funds were used (just want to uphold Ralph's accuracy standards):p

Furthermore, the new mansion is the President's, not Shirley's. While she will likely be President for a long time to come, it's not like it's hers forever.
As for needing that "no three", I plan to donate to the school as soon as I'm not paying it $50k a year.

$50K a year? Wow am I glad I paid tuition back in the early 60's.

JMO but I believe Pres. Jackson has supported this program more than any other president in at least 20 years. One just has to stand inside or outside HFH and look around. From the HFH renovations to the ECAV (wich benefits the Hocky recruiting). Everyone should go to a Union game in Schenectady to see what could be. Might I add colgate and a few others. May I suggest contacting the Hockey staff and request a tour of the locker room they are NHL quality second to none. Might I add all this done in rough economic times where many institutions are cutting funds to athletic programs. So for my money I hope she is president for life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last time I checked, sports wasn't the only concern of a college. I realise that as alumni (or townies), that is the "finished product" that is seen in the short term. My reasons for not giving to the 'tute are from an administrative, academic, and student life standpoint. These fights were going on even when I was there, such as 7% tuition hikes TWICE (masked as energy cost, but most of it as prestige pricing to "make us seem as good as Harvard" from a monetary standpoint; I believe tuition has jumped about 150% since SAJ started), practically looking to turn the frat houses into dorms (including bringing in Siena students to RD, and don't get me started on the alcohol fights), and the "retired" deans for not supporting her curriculum (though Engineering still hasn't caved into requiring Biology thankfully, but the 'tute has been dumping a LOT of academic things, such as languages, the Environmental Engineering program, and such). I know that if I were to go to college today, I would likely be keeping the same colours from K-12. I know I wouldn't get the chance to be with great people such as yourselves (in fact many of you would have despised me, that's not to say you may not already), but I suppose it's the price to be paid.

What is RD?

Yea, I bet you were only middle-aged when he was POTUS :p

RD = Residential Director (the boss of the RAs in a particular building). There was an issue when the Institute was adding dorms, but refusing to allow freshmen to take RA jobs, meaning that there were issues getting the number of RAs, LAs, and RDs desired.
