I used to think I could go either way on the new vs. old debate. But when you boil it down, I'll always take HFH, or Fenway or Wrigley or Lambeau over any new facility I've ever been in. I havent been to Dartmouth's rink, but I was unimpressed with Q's rink. Modern yes - but it was nothing but a concrete bunker on the inside - zero style or charm. I'll take HFH over that barn any day of the week.
At HFH, I think the really important work has been done - new locker rooms, new rink lighting (for TV), new coaches offices, and Shirley's Playhouse, a.ka. the largely unused, only for the privileged sky boxes. IF they ever get around to new seating, the place will be downright civilized.
