Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Though I understand where this comes from I have always thought it is stupid for our fans to be saying. Anyone else agree? Especially when we are getting beat by the said team.
WODY nobody ever agrees w/you remember !

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

I used to think I could go either way on the new vs. old debate. But when you boil it down, I'll always take HFH, or Fenway or Wrigley or Lambeau over any new facility I've ever been in. I havent been to Dartmouth's rink, but I was unimpressed with Q's rink. Modern yes - but it was nothing but a concrete bunker on the inside - zero style or charm. I'll take HFH over that barn any day of the week.

At HFH, I think the really important work has been done - new locker rooms, new rink lighting (for TV), new coaches offices, and Shirley's Playhouse, a.ka. the largely unused, only for the privileged sky boxes. IF they ever get around to new seating, the place will be downright civilized. :D

Agree with everything except the Fenway thing. HFH is like my wife, I wouldn't change a thing ;)

Will they outlaw cursing? ;)

Cursing sucks! ;)

There has to be a way to migrate this joke to the ECAC.

I had some good friends from Kansas, and they'd say:

Why is Kansas so windy?

Because Nebraska sucks and Oklahoma blows.

So if Clarkson sucks, and xxxx blows, then yyyyy is windy, right?

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

And I thought I was smooth and had all the lines;)

Sounds like a good thread for the Cafe....

Once,
"if I told you you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?"
was fresh, now it's probably stale.

I thought
"I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body"
was one of the best ever (especially in San Francisco! though a straight man in SF probably didn't need much of a line, at least back then.....)

though if I am going from empirical experience, the one that generally produced the best results was very staid yet very effective:

"Hello, I'm [redacted]. What's your name?"

Clarkson sucks and Cornell blows. That's why we have such high winds in Syracuse.

Today is 3 May 2012. There are 156 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

I guess the reason I mentioned the rinks at Dartmouth and Qpac is because I like how the seating is set up, with seats going right up to the glass, while having the walkway up behind the sections. I know theres plenty of other rinks that have that setup but those are just the first couple that came to mind. Thats really the only issue I have with HFH, not a big fan of trying to watch whats happening on the ice and having to look through people trying to find their seats. I imagine your right that when the school gets around to replacing the seats, it will make a world of difference with how the place looks.

The aisle also cuts down on fan involvement, but it would take a lot of renovating to move the aisle. They did move the aisle up in the vicinity of RPI's bench at some point.

Perhaps Dr.D can give you some pointers since he has been chasing women for 43 years and it is one of the things he knows best. Or you could just grow a pair.

Why would Dr. D need to chase? He's found one. ;) She also posts here.

I think my most successful approach was-"Hi there- I am a wealthy physician and heavily insured who is not at all well."
