RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

That is still the plan. Talking with JFK, he said that the ice was being melted and the cranes were ready to move into the concrete area.

5-year trends of ECAC attendance coming later today or tomorrow.

This is great news indeed. I would imagine RPI kept the ice down this long for the River Rats to practice on...at least I think the Rats have been practicing there - the Rats play their RS finale tonite in GF prior to the playoffs.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

I had the opportunity to witness one of Doc's buddies - Frank Murphy - work his magic in the AHL last night. He was a linesman for the Adk. Phantoms game vs. Bing. Sens. Can't say he was much better than his ECAC work... :D

He has nailed us enough times to make my top 10 of worst refs-I have a long memory so he has not been forgotten:mad:

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

Defense is my number 1, 2 and 3 concern heading into next season...our ability to take the next step will depend on our blueline play, IMO.

That has been my mantra for years-ther have been a few exceptions-but the ECAC has been won by teams who have the best blue line tandems and goalies. Simple-if the other team does not score-you don't lose that often.:)

Totally agree. However, I am happy the way that SA is constructing team by having skill guys like Yale. They proved it can work. If I were Cornell fan I couldn't watch that trap, clutch and grab stuff game in and game out. If Pirri ,Jerry and Chase know that D is there they will be able to take some chances in the O zone.

"They spent their own dough to get here, and they came here to see us! All right, let's show 'em what we got, guys! Get out there on the ice and let 'em know you're there." Reggie Dunlop - Slapshot

Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure Luke Curadi is at the RPI Accepted Students day festivities. Luke or someone who looked exactly like him was talking with some ACHA guys at the activity fair. I'll confirm if I have the chance.

More importantly, did you see a short guy with a French accent? :D

Nope. Wasn't there. I, like RB, would like to know about JL, tho'...

Agreed Doc. I would add that we don't need to be Cornell, but we do need to be able to enforce the red zone and clear the puck...something we struggled with down the stretch. Bailen will assist JFK in bringing a lot of poise and maturity , IMO. Bergin will continue to develop (it's easy to forget that last year was essentially Mike's rookie campaign.)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

Back from the three lamest back to back to back games I've ever watched. Gag. RIT fans managed to ruin the only moderately interesting game of the weekend (which was still boring) by their classless attention whore behavior (which was also boring). They almost made me feel sorry for BC because they couldn't stop pitching a hissy fit over no one paying attention to them. Not surprised by the slurpfest over them, though, given the sorry state of this board.

Ah well. Whatever. Wish RIT and Miami would have at least proved they deserved to be there.

EDIT: Lerchie-poo already with the butthurt over my failure to praise his lame fanbase, over on the RIT thread. Claimed "jealousy" (though I hardly know what there is to be jealous with when it comes to a third-rate tech school). Threw in the hardly unexpected "well everyone I talked to said this" argument, which is naturally unassailable (and he uses ALL the time). Feel free to give it a looksee, it's worth it simply for the laugh.

Don't hate me because I'm right, Chrissy.

I'm already done with this. No more attention for attention whores.

Anyway... ran into several RPI fans in Detroit (maybe saw more RPI jerseys than any other ECAC team). Good folks, enjoyed chatting with them.

I would love to hear what this "classes" behavior was. Once people got over the standing thing, which the NCAA cleared prior to the F4, the majority of the people around us were having a lot of fun. There were even some kids sitting right behind us and their family thanked us for shifting our row so that we weren't blocking the kids' view. And while Badger fans were throwing around the f-bomb towards us, the section never responded with any vulgar words like that. So... classless, eh? They were the only type of atmosphere in that arena, it would have been God awful without them, especially with the blowout, Wisconsin fans wouldn't do anything and there pretty much were no BC fans there.

This is hilarious.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

So I take it RIT fans played the role of a little bit too happy to be here so lets get our entire 15 minutes of fame role? Either way I was very unimpressed with all games this weekend. Oh well they cant all be classics. Now back to the JL saga or whatever other mini crisis we are debating here ;)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2010 -- The Calm Before the Storm

I like any exposure for college hockey that ESPN can provide-the game deserves to be seen. But these games were indeed boring blowouts. Hopefully when we get there in the next few years we can provide some excitement like we did in 1985:D
