Great effort from our boys, and Malchuk gets his second shorty of the year. I'm looking forward to the ECAC play (of course we do have 3 games in front).

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Great game -- I spent the majority of the game behind the east goal taking photos and gathering some video for RPI TV. Had some awesome vantage points of the first couple RPI goals and the HUGE trip that sent a BU player flying over York's leg. I'll share the HD footage we shot and some of my photos when I get a chance.

I ended up standing next to Commissioner Hagwell during the 2nd period. He introduced himself to me, and we made small talk for a most of the period. He was very pleased about the way the game was going and about the national media coverage for both RPI and the ECAC. Then the called off goal incident occurred. I jokingly said to Hagwell, "Well, it's a good thing Dumas is in there looking at the replay and making the call so there won't be any trouble." "No comment", he replied. He promptly walked off, and I didn't see him behind the goal for the rest of the game. :) All in all, he was a very pleasant person and I'm sure he takes the officiating situation seriously.

Great crowd yesterday, walking into the HFH you could feel the excitement among the crowd, and boy we were given a great game that sadly turned nasty towards the end. I posted my feelings on this in BU @ RPI thread so I wont do so here. Looking forward to seeing the US Juniors in town next weekend for what should be a highly skilled, fast paced game.

Honestly, I think the third period is one of the reasons we try to schedule BU year in and year out (along with getting a powerhouse in the rotation to boost our SOS), and Don Cherry is absolutely correct about this, the fans like "Rock'em Sock'em"! If you can get a game where each team has an equally physical presence, it gets fun to watch. Yes, I'm a little disappointed with some of the cheap shots, but that happens sometimes. I'm just happy that our players kept their composure and were in control even during the potential fights.

RH - Great Job. Always question authority.

Not sure if anyone posted the link yet, but here's the post game interviews with Appert and York: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K23UY2181A4&feature=channel

I like the last question/answer with York:

Reporter: Is this a signature win for the program?
York: You know, it could be...but at the end of the day it's still a regular season win so I hope not...but it's still a huge step.

It's obvious these guys have their sights set on big things this year.

Yeah it was great to see our players not drop to BU level in gooning it up, but it was just a dissapointing end to what was a good game. I guess we should have saw it coming when Parker got nailed for the bench minor with a few minutes left to play.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

I'll just echo everyone's comments - here great team effort, great team win. I do want to mention a few individual thoughts: I would be remiss if I didn't single out Jeff Foss who had a stellar game in his own end...he definitely came to play. Jeff made several shutdown plays. Well done Jeff! The entire D-corps played an inspired, disciplined game. Brutlag had jump the entire night, especially in the 3rd when we needed to keep the tempo up. Malchuk's shorty was a thing of beauty...rifle shot.

As bad as the Lee x-check was, I was more scared when Malchuk got hammered from behind and went head first into the boards...scary. I hope he doesn't have any lingering issues with that. I did notice that immediately after that hit, Seth tapped Burgdoerfer, Tinordi and Cullen on the shoulder and had them ready to go over the boards, just before a BU penalty was called. Seth was NOT gonna let that one go unpunished. LOVE THIS TEAM'S ATTITUDE! Keep it up boys!

Disappointing?! I think everyone in the section I was sitting in, and the one next to it, liked the last three minutes more than all the goals combined! It's ol' time hockey. It gets fans excited. That's what you need to get them to keep coming to the games.

Nice interviews, and no mention of Hicks. :)

You need teams to goon it up to keep people coming to the games or maybe winning to keep people coming to the games? Im just saying that the last three minutes was not a great way to show the nation and canada on the NHL network what NCAA hockey is all about. I enjoy the physical aspect of the game but to just keep trying to pick fights with the other team is wrong. This isnt the AHL where fans go to drink beers and watch guys fight all night.

Precisely right on the mark-There was one episode where a BU player went to check Tinordi who just braced himself and the fellow bounced off!. This team is starting to fill in all the spots that have been missing. We are getting scoring (although i would always like a little more), we are playing tight defense, great goaltending, and we are backing down from no one, no how no way. The last 5 minutes were ugly-but we faced up to their ugly by hitting bak and standing up to them. I have just revised my total win expectation for this year from 20 to 22-23. We may still have some off nights-but this team is quicly becoming a beast .

Don Cherry couldn't have said it better himself. :D
