RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Had to run out during the third period-Chase stood up and carried this team to a victory with that last minute goal. He is one darn valuable player. I only hope he gets national recognition this year as he did last year. He is a quality athlete. Now let's get home safely and get ready to play some tough ECAC hockey against 2 long time rivals that would be just great to beat.

It's still early, but paraphrasing the current BC thread:

RPI 2010-11 Part IV: We Still Have Allen York. Sorry, Everyone.

And we have a team that is 11-4-3 ( when was the last time we could say that?) And a team that finds ways to win in the last few seonds because they just refuse to give up. Still too early in the season but this team just does not want to lose.

JY, I agree with everything you said. Hockey is the greatest game in the world and should be enjoyed everywhere. UAH has had enough of the hockey elite putting it down. They deserve a lot better. There is hockey in Florida, Texas and Arizona. There is no reason why Alabama can't have a good hockey program. I wish you luck in finding a league to play in and I am happy that RPI felt it important to travel to Huntsville. Hopefully it helps you guys in the future.

Well said, ehf. :) Good to get two wins, :) maybe scrape some post break rust. We seem to be turning into a 'whatever it takes to get it done' team. Not bad. :D Good inital reports about Brock Higgs. And time to go home and wait for guests from the North Country.

If memory serves me correct (and it doesn't always), this years seniors had to go through a season where they could not get more than 10 wins. Quite a turnaround. This team has all the ingredients that it takes to make a champion. Here's hoping they can reach their potential. I look forward to 2011.

Two seasons, actually. One of those saw a regular season with 7 wins.

I think everyone's hope is that we can stay strong throughout ECAC play. Last year at about this time, we had a few wins, but then started going to our inconsistent .500 play. We're .500 in the ECAC now, so it's time for us to step up and take the league by storm.

Precisely-we just have to take these ECAC games as they come up. We have proved to everyone, including ourselves, that we can play with anyone and as long as the defense is solid, we are one darn hard team to score a lot against. We are in every game and we are tenacious. We fight to the last seconds of every game. I cannot remember when we were like that-it has to be more than 10 years. Let's not take anyone lightly-Clarkson and SLU are not pushovers by any means. But if we play our game we should be fine.

RPI cracks the top 10 coming in at #8 in the first INCH Power Rankings of the year.

Still holding strong at #7 in the PairWise after this weekends games.

The InCH ranking seems more of a case of other teams losing than RPI doing well. Two one-goal victories against a 3-win team couldn't have impressed them much.

On top of that, I doubt they took stock in our win over the National Junior team, simply because it was exhibition so it didn't count. I would agree with your sentiment seeing as how Maine, Union, and UNO went down in the ranks, and perhaps Miami was seen as not all that strong having lost to St. Cloud. I was actually worried we would go down because we only won by one goal, but of course there's no need to get my panties in a bunch because margin really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things for this sport; a win is a win is a win is a win.

If Clarkson can pull off a sweep or at least 3pts tonight and tomorrow against UMD you can probably move us up another spot. Then hopefully RPI can take advantage of a tired team coming off only two days rest on Friday.

I just don't see this happening as I don't think Clarkson is really all that good. I would be glad to see them take advantage of UMD's missing D-Men and win at least one game but 3 or more points seems like a real stretch to me. Let's see if they prove me wrong.

we gotta be on our game this weekend. Especially slu beat unh last night in their barn. As well as if clark can beat umd one game.

I have often fallen into the trap of thinking a team would be tired after a 2 game set-Clarkson is at home for these and I don't think they will act very tired if they come out of this series with at least one win. If it was on the road it might be a different story due to all the traveling. We have played extremely well at home and just hope we can keep the streak there going for the next 2 games.

We were asked to take down the pictures of the scoreboard. The Institute wants to have a grand unveiling on Friday and from what I've seen of it, I have to agree it looks phenomenal.

Oh, that makes sense. I'm very excited!

Perhaps a courtroom sketch artist's rendition then?
