Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

If thats the case, then that would just leave 2 home OoC dates for RPI next year. (Colorado College)

2- Colorado College
2- @ Notre Dame (Series was mentioned a while back on the ND thread)
2- @ Ferris St.
2- @ UConn Classic
1- @ RIT
1- @ Army or Niagara (Niagara makes more sense, since we are already traveling out to Rochester)

Which leaves 2 more possible OoC games, either the RPI tournament, Lake Placid tournament or single games against Union and a Hockey East or AHA team. If I had to take a guess Id say those last two games will be in Troy which would eliminate LP.

Good point about the home/away balance.

Did we all just assume that both Notre Dame and Ferris were two games or was that actually stated? Perhaps we are only playing one game against each. I am going to have to look at a map to find out exactly where Big Rapids is, but I know that Notre Dame is very near the Indiana-Michigan border, so maybe it is possible to play both on a single weekend.

Edit: It's about a 3-hour drive according to Google Maps.

Hmm you could be onto something here. The twitter message from WaP said "trip to Ferris St." and the quote from the Notre Dame thread just says "playing RPI" definitely possible RPI could be playing one game against each of those teams.

FYI - I heard UMass Lowell and RPI will meet on the first night of the UConn Classic next season.

The more I think about it, the more this makes sense. Especially since FSU and ND are less then three hours apart. That would also free up two more games making four slots to fill. You know theres going to be at least one n/c game vs Union either in Troy or up in LP and probably the RPI tournament. Leaving one game left either for a second game in LP or a single matchup against a HE or AHA team.

Thanks. UConn's first round matchup will most likely be against another Atlantic Hockey team as its been set up that way for many years now. Most common first day opponents for UConn over the last couple seasons seem to be either Bentley or Army.

I agree with that. I assume that SA is quite familiar with the trip between Ferris and ND. :)

I don't know about the RPI Tournament-I would think that would have had to have been booked early and we would have heard something sbout at least one of the teams coming. If we don't hear soon-the tournament may be past tense.:(

Very true. We already know 3/4 of the schools in the UConn Classic next year, havent heard a peep yet about possible schools coming to the RPI tournament. Either way we should be looking at some more home dates. Ive said this before, I think Seth should try and convince Gwoz to bring his team out to Troy for a pair of games. :)

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Ralph, have you been keeping tabs on the BU-RPI game thread. Wow, the BU and BC folks get at it. You created a monster. I have seen less hard feelings at a European soccer game :D.

BTW, HokyDad and Red Cloud have both been banned, as have at least two others. I don't know why.

Knowing RC he was most likely defending his beloved Engineers from Hokymom. RC always takes one for the team.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Recently a mutual friend introduced me to Red Cloud. You can imagine the incredible honor it was for me, we had several beers at a local watering hole. Red Cloud sent me an email and ask me to share the following on his behalf.

"to save us all from Satan's power"

Merry Christmas

RC

I fear this may be the last message from him.
