It's also an opportunity for Commers to step up. He's played in a few games recently and I've liked how he's played. A lot of energy, pretty good on the forecheck and not afraid to get into the thick of it. A bad situation turns into a chance for him to make something better out of it.
Totally agree GRuss. I too hope the Tin Man's injury isn't as serious as we think. That said, when the bell rings, the next guy has to stand up seize the opportunity. Agree with you Commers thoughts...the kid has a ton of energy on the ice.

maybe SA will be on Rodger Wylands show this morning (11am...on 980) with some good news concerning MT....or maybe an update on O'Grady?

Of all the teams in the ECAC, for some reason Brown is in my top three of the ones I hate to play against. There is something about their style of play as it clashes with ours that seems to give us fits (in a related way, we seem to have been able to do the same thing to Yale over the past several years, though I would hate to jinx us by suggesting we might do it again this weekend).

Fits or no, we've had fairly good success against Brown in recent years. 8-1-2 dating back to 07-08 is not too shabby considering some of the records we amassed during that same period.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

We (the fans) look at games and look for matchups and the opposing teams. SA has been saying all year, that he is only concerned with the Engineers. If we play our system with intensity and determination, the outcome will take care of itself.
After watching and listening to the games since the beginning of 2013, I tend to agree with him. Lets concentrate on RPI. They are telented and playing very well. That should be enough.
As for Tinordi, he has been playing very well and adds a lot of grit and the occasional score for this team. That said, we have a lot of energy guys waiting their turn. I think we will be ok if those guys fit in with their line mates.
Chemistry is so important.
I look for two hard fought games this weekend, and the points will take care of themselves.

I love when you are so upbeat. We are rapidly approaching crunch time and I just want to see us healthy. We can play with and beat anyone-when we are a complete team. Go Red!

Commers does seem to have a ton of energy on the ice and I think we will be fine with him or any of the others that SA feels earned the spot come game time. I would like to see Tuna out there but would rather he get well and finish with a strong Senior year if that is the road which needs to be taken.

They are one of the teams (Union is another) who just do not match up well with us for several reasons. Brown at times plays that collapsing defense and blocks a ton of outside shots-something we take a lot of especially on the power play. They also at times, like now, have extremely good goaltending. however, i would much rather be facing them tomorrow night than in the playoffs. I think this year all bets are off in the post season. Getting a bye is crucial-since you can get beat in any series by anybody home or away. Any round you can avoid playing is one less of a chance to get knocked out. Paint me a very happy fellow if we can hold onto 4th place or better. (of course i would love even higher)

I do think that we are fine with Commers, but with Schroeder, O'Grady, and Tinordi all out, we are running out of bodies up front.

I'm assuming you mean regular season? We're 1-4 in the playoffs against them since we were frosh.

Complete agreement. I remember standing at the rail behind the bench and yelling down "Play your game", similar to Brooks in 1980. Maybe that's what is helping our focus (which we lacked last year).

Of course you are right, but we have been without Schroeder and O'Grady for a while now and Tinordi going out just gets added to the list.
I believe that what SA is building, is a mini New Jersey Devils squad. Put the system in place and the players will all fit in. As with the Devils, the goalie is the main ingredient and I believe that we have the goalie to fill that roll.
The entire team has played well in the system no matter who is on the ice.
I really like this system and this team.
Keep happy thoughts.

Yes we are but I like our chances no matter who is in the line up. Now if we lose 1 or 2 more guys up front or even a Dman then I will be concerned as we are thin on D as well with Hampton and Bokenfohr hurt.

That was my point. Isn't Fulton the only healthy skater who didn't play last Saturday? BTW, I know that SA has mentioned that Hampton and Bokenfohr are injured. Does anyone know when those injuries occurred?

That has been my exact point in the previous posts. Missing 3 important cogs is a lot. Now if anything else happens it is just that much more of a problem. Not tomention that we have some injuries on defense to add to this.
