RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

This was probably the most enjoyable weekend at the fieldhouse that RPI has had in almost a decade. Obviously the wins make it nice but more importantly the team seems to be playing with a purpose and the underclassmen have a chemistry that I have not seen out of this team in a long while. In the down times, Appert has been questioned on here by several people and IMO, rightfully so. He is the one that ultimately chose this group of players and he is the one that has desired this style of hockey so give credit where credit is due. Lets hope this ride continues the rest of this season and for the next several with this group.

On another note. I know the fieldhouse funds have dried up for the time being but what the **** with the net at the east end!!! Is it me or has it been for many years that the net has been coming off with little contact. Can we pass the hat the next home game so they can properly redrill and fill the holes so the supports don't give everytime someone brushes up against the net. Almost cost us a goal against Yale.

Lastly, was it anyone that posts on here wearing the red #4 RPI jersey at the Rangers/Caps game Sunday night? At first I thought it might have been an Oates jersey with him coaching the Caps but saw the number 4 from across the ice when they stood up. Couldn't recognize the name on the back.

Wished you posted more big man. Always enjoy the well thought out posts. All my best. Have a business lunch in Electric City soon, going to go to the best Irish Pub in Cap Region, your joint. I know you work during the day but will call ahead to see if you will be around. All my best.

I try to get there for lunch once or twice a week. Give me a heads up and I will try to be there. Thanks for the kind words.

Greg Burgdoerfer needs to have eyes in the back of his head this weekend. As we all know from experience, Fat Mike has zero hesitation about threatening opposing players if they have been involved with injuring his guys or perceived slights against his guys - heck, we know this because he specifically threatened Burgdoerfer's brother once. And this year, FM has little to lose by sending someone to run Burgdoerfer. Just something to think about.

A buck says Murphy and Kotyra are sent to ref the game, and turn a blind eye (for the wise guys, the right one) to hits that would normally be considered a battery, and we even get 2 minutes for diving when it happens.

Now that our PP isn't atrocious he might just have second thoughts though.

Safe bet-we will see one of them almost for certain. Watch carefully how this one is called. Cornell leading the league in penalties and our team playing very well right now without getting called much. That might all change friday night. i would expect at leatst an early call against us in the first, will perhaps a couple called very late in the period after we are a bit tired. Oh, and at least one chance for us to be down 2 men for enough time to affect the game.

I would have Burgdoerfer wearing a different number-maybe they won't notice him?;)

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Is that a one-man team, though? Similar to what people could have said about us when Polacek was in his senior year? At risk of endearing us to certain Cornell fans that have chosen to give our score threads two extra tags (I'm pretty sure it's Cornell given when they started), but their meltdown started at our game when Bardreau went into the boards awkwardly. All you have to do is stop Carey, and SLU's toast. I'm not recommending putting him into the boards, but that's not a good bottleneck to have.
You asked whether SLU has a very good PP or not...they do. Its that simple.

I would advise leaving Thomas Larkin alone on Saturday, too. Sure he went basically unpunished for running Ryan Haggerty at the end of their loss in Troy, but we have more important things to worry about than that punk, especially since Haggerty didn't miss any time.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

...maybe Cornell should be the ones to hide from him!

You have a point; FM may want to watch what he wishes for. Plus, if they go after Burgie (not the poster), there are still a couple of players that I'm sure are much worse.
