RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Yale had a decent turnout but as with most teams it was confined to sec 18/19. The place was very full, to the point they had the corner curtains open for the sections on the east end. Nice to see for a game other than Freakout.

They only had the corner on the southeast side open. The one by the band across from me was still closed. It probably helped that they had the winter carnival and fireworks after the game.

I'd rather not have us have any top 50 skaters. That way, our opponents have to defend against everyone.

Very true-I have always felt the same way. You can win most games with goaltending and consistent good defense. In the ECAC the teams that give up the fewest goals are usually the ones who end up with the byes or the regualr season championship.

What happened in the past is true in many areas, such as debugging a computer error, since although you see the error pop up, something earlier could have provoked it. Where S@HD has a point, though, is what is there to gain in this case from looking back upon it? Obviously we can use it as a learning experience in future years when going into a close game with points at stake, or even this year should we be coming down to the wire against a team, but there's nothing that we can really do about the past. What's done is done. We need to focus on how to play the cards we have now.

Pretty much what my thought was. If it were and exercise trying to predict were we could end up if we do this or that in the future then I could understand worrying or looking into it. As people are with the next few games and if we beat Colgate and if Colgate beats Union.

This is becoming a very special team.
I think that having such a poor start to the season will go a long way to keeping them grounded. We have great senior leadership and our best talent is in our sophomores and freshmen.
This is a great combination, not only for this season but for seasons to come. Winning breeds winning, and it has been so long since we were a winning team.
I has taken SA a long time to put together a team that would buy into his system, and now that they see it working, it will work for a long long time.
Just keep to the "process" and the record will take care of itself.

This is a media advisory to all local media. I will being doing press avails all week regarding the team's ressurgence.

They were heaping praise upon your buddy Mr. Stewart during the Devils and Rangers telecast this past week. Is this also the week you announce you are running for Mayor of Troy?

Would it require him to work? Oh wait it is politics so I guess it wouldn't. Perhaps he might. With his hair he could give his opponent a good run for their money, except our great coach of course.

...unless his opponent is Seth Appert. :p:D

Perhaps it being White Out helped? If it does then lets make every home game some theme night
Does anyone know how 4113 compares to last year's Whiteout. It might make a better comparison. I don't recall which game was the Whiteout last season.

Senior night last year was 4160, but I don't know if that was Whiteout or not.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

The USCHO poll tomorrow should be interesting-we deserve more than the 1 vote we got last week. No team in the country has a longer winning streak going. One nice thing is that we are not only winning the games that we have dominated (Clarkson, Brown) but we have found a way to win the games that we are not in control of(SLU, Yale). We may not have many players listed in the top 50 in the nation in any offensive category, but we do not seem to have anyone on this team taking a night off. And of course it helps to have one of the top 3 goaltenders in the nation just calmly setting the tone by making just about everything look so easy out there and at times making the sensational save to stop the opponent cold. The most stressful stretch yesterday was that almost 2 minutes that Yale had us hemmed in totally with e forecheck-at any othe time in th epast many years that would have surely led to a goal against. Somehow we seemed to be using a rope-a-dope defense for that stretch of time until we could finally get the puck out of there.

We definitely should get a lot more than 1 vote.

BTW, our powerplay is up to 9th. Just think what it would be if we knew how to score on 5-on-3's.

RPI and SLU in the 2 and 3 spots halfway through February. Who'da thunk it?

Well, I did pick RPI third in vicb's poll. Of course, I picked Cornell and Harvard as 1 and 2 which indicates that my thoughts aren't worth much. :D

Like Ralph, I had Cornell and Harvard up at the top with Union. I had SLU further down-but I completely forgot about that one big line which no one seems to be able to stop.
