perhaps some good news concerning the injury to MT. I won't get into any details here but it's a whole lot better news today than it was yesterday :)

perhaps... we'll hear some good news... later... ;)

For those of you who were not at the game, you missed our very own babo doing the harlem shake with the student section in between periods 1 and 2....sweet moves babo :)

Great game tonight! Total team effort as all 4 lines played exceptional. For our older posters in here, they had a short ceremony at center ice to honor all the season ticket holders of 50 years or more! There were about a dozen out there on the ice and got a very nice ovation from the fans.
That's what that was. The RPI-TV cameras showed it.

Our powerplay is the 10th best in the country. http://collegehockeystats.net/1213/national/d1m Who would have thought that?

Can you imagine where we would be standing if we could actually convert when we are 5 on 3? We are just so much more effective 5 on 4 and even 5 on 5. It is almost like we are afraid to move and stay on the periphery passing around with no one moving through the center.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

19th in pairwise now.

And if we had not given up that short handed goal to Quinnipiac when we had the 5 on 3 for us late in the game-and settled for a tie? i would guess we would move up at least 3 spots and be threatening for an NCAA bid or at least very close to the bubble. Sometimes it is just one play in one game that can make such a difference.:(

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Looking at the national statistics, not a single player is in the top 50 for goals. If that's happening, and we're winning, there's only two possible explanations: You're either winning gritty 1-0 or 2-1 games, or you're looking at a team receiving contribution from all four lines. With all due respect to our recent superstars, I'd much rather see across the board contribution. That means the other team has to have all 18 skaters on top of their game, as we won't let up.

And tied for the longest current unbeaten streak in the country at 5. (again-would have been 8 if not for that ridiculous call in the Union game)

Not necessarily; we very well could have lost in OT, or even in regulation even strength. The important thing is that the pistons are firing, and we have at least seven more games to continue building.

Congrats to you guys on your recent surge. Looking forward to seeing the 'Tute in action at Starr next weekend. Should be a good game, as we're desperate :)

Or lost in a shootout, or tripped and fell on a banana peel, etc. The call was bogus and should never have been made and it did have an immediate impact on the final result.

It still would have officially been a tie if a shootout took place.

And if that was the case FD-how would it have affected our PWR? I suspect we would be ahead of Union and moved up at least a slot or 2. Add that to that 5 on 3 shorthanded goal we gave up to QU-make both those games ties and i would think we might even be sitting in an NCAA tournament position right now. Fruitless to think about-since we cannot turn back the clock-but interesting how 2 simple plays can make such a difference for us.

I don't think it would. They'd still be ahead of us in RatingsPI (currently 0.03 ahead, I don't know if that's quite enough for a flip with a tie), making it 3-2 instead of 4-2. All ties are broken by RatingsPI, despite TBRW's formula (they use H2H), so we still have the opportunity to flip the comparison. We just need to finish ahead of them in the league to get COP, and their mickey mouse schedule will hurt when it comes to % vs. TUC.

The biggest focus, though, is taking it to Yale tonight. 992, we want more!

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

I think some people on here worry themselves too much about the TUC and RPI stats. When we win the ECAC tourney none of it will matter as we will get an automatic bid into the tourney. I like our chances of doing so the way we have been playing. The past is the past lets move forward and keep playing the way we have and if we do I think our chances are great.

Let's Go Red!!!
