Nice try. it was a lot longer than that. And no, shootouts do not count.

In that case, it was before September of 2004, because I do not recall ever seeing a penalty shot by RPI at HFH (unless it was in the holiday tournament).

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Here's an interesting trivia question which is going to take some time to answer (I think):

When was the last time an RPI player took a penalty shot at the Field House?? Bonus points if you can name the player (the player is even more difficult to answer). Good luck everyone. This is the men's team, so don't think women (at least in this case...!).

I think I remember Chase Polacek getting a penalty shot because he was hauled down from behind on a breakaway but I don't remember if that was in HFH or not. IIRC we were 3 x 5 at the time too.

That was at Colgate. The best thing about that was Polacek ended up scoring on the penalty shot and Colgate didn't get to finish the 5 x 3 because it happened in overtime.

No, not even close. Here's a clue: it took place before all the poles were removed.

I wonder if I was there.

I don't think that I will go through all of my old programs.

Edit: Isn't there still a pole in each corner?

Yep, we enjoy having the roof stay up where it belongs. :p But they're not really in the way. (except for the clarinet section during men's games.)

I don't know Ralph. When were you there? And I meant to say that it took place when all the poles were still in place. Before the renovation.

I was there from 1964 to 1974. I attended most games except for my freshman year. I also attended all of the Holiday tourneys after I left through 84-85.

Edit: I did know what you meant by before the poles were removed. :)

That was 4v5; Marty O'Grady had the 3v5 later against Princeton. In both cases, though, it was at an away game.

The last there ever was a PS at HFH was I think Jesse Winchester in 2006-07, but he did not play for RPI.

Ok. It was after you left, and as I mentioned earlier, was not at a Holiday tournament game.

I was at RPI from 99-03, and I am almost positive that Nolan Graham was awarded a non-shootout penalty shot in a game at HFH. Which game it was I do not remember.

Last year in an RPI ACHA contest against the College of New Jersey. The attempt failed. :p

(Yes, I know the question was meant for the DI men's team...don't jumop down my throat like we do to FD)

College Hockey Stats doesn't show it, although it is missing the UVM game from 99-00. That must have been some brawl with UMass in 00-01, though.

I've been a season ticket holder since '74 and have missed maybe 5 games since then and I would have remembered that. Of course, Nolan is still an assistant coach so someone could ask him.
