RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part II: You Better Starting Posting the Engineer Way

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part II: You Better Starting Posting the Engineer Way

If by getting Addesa you mean running him out of town, it was Wilcox leading the charge with some help from others on campus. As for media people, the incompetent nasty, witch-hunting sports editor at the Times Union had much more to do with the whole fiasco than the little Troy Record.

Btw, what an awful job by te Record this week. They didn't run an advance article before last night's game and then had just a rewrite of a story from the St. Cloud State website this morning. The rewrite also had several errors. They couldn't have hired a stringer for $50 to send them a game story or set up a phone call with Apeprt after the game to get his reaction and a couple of quotes?

They had an advance this morning on the UAlbany basketball game at Navy. It makes no sense. RPI hockey is the hometown Div 1 program, plays at a higher level than UAlbany basketball and outdraws the Great Danes, despite having a student body less than half the size and a smaller local population.

A MAJOR blunder by the sports editor.

Internally it was Ducatte. He was mad at the Fat Man for raising $$$$ around his back to upgrade HFH.

That is the first time I ever heard that. As far as I can recall they remained friendly even after Addesa left.
Lots of things happened beneath the surface during that whole sad affair. I doubt if anyone actually knows all the details. A very sad time for the program and the school.

Our great coach has done alot to heal the wounds. Class move when he brought Mike back for the 25th Anniversary.

Agreed. It would be nice to get Oates and a couple of the other missing players back one more time.

Was SA the one who organized that? Also I am pretty sure that MA was invited to the 20th reunion but didn't come and that was prior to SA's arrival.

There is a reason he skipped the 20th and attended the 25th, one being our great coach. Even the real hardened Seth haters like S8TP and Bman will even acknowledge that Seth is a gracious man.

My memory is quite fuzzy now, but I think that MA was going to attend the 20th reunion but didn't on account of the weather.

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but Skate with the Engineers will be held after the SHU game on Monday. (See the page that shows up when you go to the official hockey website.)

You are wrong Aspy, and SA did not set up the reunion, it was an administrative function, led by the AD. As far as MA raising money behind Ducatte's back, that is a good one! It is the first we've heard this, because it never happened.

I hate to break up the "what ifs" and the reminiscing about Mike Adessa, but the team is back on the ice and played a pretty good two games against a ranked team.
The defense was excellent in giving up only 3 goals in two games. Offense was lacking in game two, and guys like Bailen and Laliberte did not seem to be at their best, but we gave SCSU all they could handle.
I would like to see Merriam in net against Sacred Heart, just to get him some work. Who knows how long Kasdorf will be out, and we have to be ready for anything.
After Sacred Heart, we have nothing but tough games and we are going to need to be at our best.

WaP had some info on Kazzy saying it was short term and he probably could have played last night however they want to have him checked out by the team doctor back in Troy first.

Yeah, I read that, and I thought about all the other times a team official said that an injury was day to day and it was weeks before we saw the player back in action.
Just a long time sports fan being sceptical, sorry.

Realet can chime in, but I assume that tweet was based upon the prerecorded interview with SA that was on WRPI before the game.

The Denver Post profiles Chris Knowlton with a few shoutouts to his Dad, RPI AD Jim Knowlton.

would love to see the last line of the above linked article applied in Troy.......... "His four years have really typified a college hockey career, in that you're able to help the team as a junior and senior a lot more than your first two years," Jim Knowlton said of his son.

You are probably right. I too heard the interview. I also read the night before when SA indicated that it was not easy to get Kasdorf's shoulder back in place.
I will believe the extent of the injury when he is back on the ice playing.
