Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Bailen already plays like a forward it comes naturally to him, as it did for Brutlag.....there'd be no adjustment for. If anything, you'd have a VERY defensively responsible forward. Nothing would preclude him from moving back to the blue line, if the wheels fell off on the back end. I'm not hung up on it, especially given our maturing depth at Forward, but he belongs up front, IMO.
I think that he has worked quite well as D. Why tinker with it? I would love to see SA basically happy with the lines and d-pairings, and more or less stick with him all season. Of course, there is no chance of this happening. :D

RB - no worries - I have ticket for you for both nights. Granted, it is in the much-maligned "townie" side of the ice... But you're welcome to it...I'll have them with me tomorrow.
I have little doubt that the tickets that I got are on that side. I intend to stop off at the box office and straighten this out before the tailgate. Of course the tickets could show up today, but it has already been ten days since I ordered them. I do appreciate the offer.

He jumps into the play more often than not, sometimes leaving us high and dry at the other end following a turnover. There were many times last year where we were left with our pants down with this kind of scenario. Again, I love Bailen and his quick release....I'm not hell bent on it, just think his game is better suited at forward...especially with the growth at D.

No worries either way. They're yours if you want them.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

I recall speaking to Seth and him stating he was watching some old RPI game tapes this past summer!

The only reason i recalled that SLU game was we just blew them away in the first 20 minutes and they had no answer for Senez (who was quite a big boy) up front and how he was disrupting things in front of the net. The second and third period were a different story (we still won as i recall) but Joe Marsh had to make plenty of adjustments to deal with it. I am not aware of whether we tried it at other times. I would think Bailen, who has the scoring touch and talent of a forward, could be successful up front but perhaps not as a force in front of the net. Nothing wrong with trying to be creative.

If necessary we'd bring you a pep band rugby and a pair of cymbals. :D

I still haven't grabbed tickets yet, but am bringing my rugby just in case. Either some cymbals or my namesake will be fine. ;) Although if there are tickets still available, I don't mind buying them. It's the same cost as a Colgate/Cornell weekend, including travel time (minus sleeping in North Lot).

No, but I can calculate the area of a triangle. :p (Thank you Heron.)

Heron? I thought he figured out how to square roots without a slide rule. (Heron's Rule) but on further review I suppose his Rule pertained to triangles and was not a K & E. ;)

Square roots without a slide rule? Simple. You know how many times I've done that on a cocktail napkin at a bar?

I'm pretty sure the game hasn't sold out so you should be fine. :)

I also have extra tickets, in Section 15, just in case. My oldest is a sophomore this year. Last year we had 3 season tickets, and I said that it would be nice to have 4 in case someone else wanted to come. I asked him to get tickets this year, but my youngest is playing high school hockey and we may miss a number of games...so my oldest ordered 6 (yes, 6 !!). I have absolutely no idea why. I do know that I paid for it though !! Anyone ever needs a seat....I'm sure that I have extra.

Doing square roots while sitting in a bar? You are a very odd person-and you fit in well here with the rest of us.:)

Combining that with a love for the stock market, perhaps this should be telling me something... :p

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow! (Well, later today...) Is everyone who's going to the game able to make the tailgate, or are we interested in setting up a meeting during intermission as I think we did last year?

Can't wait for the season to officially start!

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Nice work by Eddy. He says in a definitive fashion that Melanson is not coming until 2014. That would be a little surprising to me.

Also, Appert's trick to success in recruiting?

I try to develop and maintain duel relationships with recruits and their parents...

10 paces at dawn!

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

I suspect that babo beat him in a duel, also Mr. babo. :D

He also mentions again that Miller plays defense.
