<marquee>News Flash</marquee>

I got an email from DrD. He's OK but "hunkered down".

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

"An RPI defenseman took a gamble into the offensive zone and the result was a breakaway for Union senior right winger Wayne Simpson. He sailed through the neutral zone, skated right at RPI goaltender Scott Diebold and beat him with a backhander with 2:20 remaining in the period.

With one minute to go in the period, an RPI player skated away from a loose puck and Union right winger skated to it, took a couple strides and rifled a 20-footer past Diebold."

Was Weaver at the game. Don't the players wear numbers so you can identify them. Wow gotta love the Record an its cub reporters

Perhaps this is paraphrasing from Coach, and he typically does not call out players to the papers in those situations, at least ever since the puppy poop incident.

Did you watch the post game video? Coach didn't speak about this stuff so I don't think it is paraphrasing. Just like he said McGowan took a **** from the corner in one of his articles. He does not proof read and gets paid to print stuff my daughter could write better and she is only 2 years of age. Hell I'll even say you could do a better job!

Considering Weaver was live-tweeting the game last night, he was probably too busy live-tweeting action and not taking enough notes for his post-game article.

Given that Higgs has been filling in for Lee in what seems to be every game after Lee gets ejected, wonder if we'll see him get an "A" or if we're gonna keep up this single-captain routine.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Although he has only played 2 periods, with no goals allowed, I think Kasdorf needs to start next Friday. I'm interest in what he can do for a full game. He looks ten times big in net compared to SD and BM. That alone cuts down percentages and, would think, puts intimidation into the minds of the opponents.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Im begging the fanbase to please please stop using the we won two NCAA titles line when going back and forth with other teams fans. I played on a title winning team in high school but I wouldnt ever lower myself to saying to someone oh how many titles have you won. Fact is the program is at a crossroads right now and it is up to the staff and players to decide where the road leads.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Was at the game tonight...the first period we were shaky, but survived and came out well in the second. Unfortunately, in the end we just beat ourselves, all Union had to do was tap in the puck a few times. We started panicking any time a player had a semi-breakaway, and let him have lots of time and space. The physical nastiness went WAY too far, which didn't help. I hope Higgs gets a letter..it's nice to see he has the assistant role anyway. I love Lee's passion and the heart he plays with, but the past two games it's spilled over into unnecessary penalties. I hope we can put this weekend behind us and stick to our game plan and stay out of the box against Dartmouth and Harvard. Union just seems to get to us (in addition to being pretty good in their own right in recent years). Hopefully we have more discipline against two teams we don't have any particular animosity towards.

Maybe because I was sitting in Sec 5 I didn't see it the same way but I really do not think Lee's hit was bad at all. It looked to me like the Union player was trying to make it seem worse than it was. Perhaps this is not the case but that is what it looked like to me. As for Curadi's hit, he is a big guy and is going to flatten people like that.

The Lee hit looked particularly bad because the player was hit over the bench-those usually turn out nasty. I was way up in Section 2 and couldn't see that or Curadi's hit well though-what exactly happened with Luke? I was too busy worrying about our player Bodie had in a headlock, and didn't see anything except Gostisbehere skating off bleeding and Curadi being sent off. We were going with "punched him in the face" until we heard otherwise.

So is Ken Schott the only one in the post-game interviews these days? His video with Coach Appert seemed like a one on one session with Coach just kinda saying stuff to give Ken some material to write an article.

From what i saw it was just Luke being bigger than the other guy. Unfortunately for him I think it will continue to be a problem because of his size compared to most guys. Sad thing is it cost him a game next weekend.

Thanks. In Appert's interview he said it was a clean hit on a player in a vulnerable position, with the size differential compounding things.

BTW, Chris Knowlton had a hat trick(and an additional assist) tonight for DU. Some good news for the RPI Athletics family.

Is he a recruit I do not know about? Thought RB had them all covered.
