Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

A good night... lots of posters at tailgate (the first of the season??? ;) ), and oh yeah a win. I'm sure Coach is already talking about how to forget tonight and get ready for tomorrow. Let's see if we listen... is Sat night a test of team growth/maturity?

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Big thanks to babo and everyone else that helped put together the tailgate tonight. Was a great time and word is, this wont be the last one this year. :) Good performance by the team tonight, hope they can keep the pressure up tomorrow night. This could be the start of something good.

My thanks to babo and everyone else also.

I too would like to add my thanks to Babo. It was great to meet the posters and some of the teams family members.
A great time.
On a different note, so many times in the past we have played a great game and come away with an unexpected win only to follow it up with a stinker. The game tonight will give us an idea of the quality of this team.
A win is not necessary, but a really good effort would be appreciated.

Great tailgate! Well done, babo! :) Also great to meet everyone, though I fear the only ones I will still recognise are babo, ADad, tb, fr joe, and others who graduated around about the time I did.

Glad to see the team won, even happier that I put McGowan onto my fantasy starters last night! Hope we keep it up tonight.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Was good to meet some of you yesterday. It good to put a face behind the names on here when reading posts. Sorry I could not wtay for the whole time. As for the game, I thought we played 10 times better than we did last weekend. There still is a lot of room for improvement. Diebold, IMO, is who kept us in the game. Should be interesting to see who leads us out of the tunnel tonight. Reports I have heard say Neal pinched a nerve but I am not sure if that was in the hip as Seth reported or shoulder/neck area as some people saw the trainers working on him. Just glad it was nothing too serious because I love the line of Neal,Haggs,JL. Hope we same the same kind of performance tonight, cant wait!!

Big shout out to Babo, though she was an hour late, for the tailgate and looking forward to doing it again.

I think I am just coming off the sugar high from those awesome puck shaped brownies with a half inch of frosting on top....kudos to those who made them. As for tonight, I expect to see a fired up Ferris State team and hopefully our guys can match that and show us what they are made of.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Our good friend AspyDad wouldnt share some of his kool-aid at the tailgate. After he finished it he started rambling about our "great coach"......hmmm makes me wonder whats in that kool-aid. :)

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

That was a very pleasant surprise last night. Tonight is going to be a real test though. FSU is a relatively known quantity as a quality hockey team, and they are going to come out very hard tonight looking for the split. If we have the extra gear that's going to be needed to handle that, its going to bode very well for the team moving forward.

I'm curious what they're going to do with the goalie situation tonight. My gut tells me its Merriam, and that he was told he was starting this game at the same time he was told he was not starting Friday. If that is the case, it likely will remain that way.

The best performance of the night in my book went to the Women's basketball team, which delivered be a flawless chipwich in only 2 minutes. These types of things can not go unnoticed.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Congratulations on an impressive weekend. The blend of snobbery and contempt directed at some conferences and geographic areas has not done well so far this season. Let's keep up the good work.

So true-years ago we had a season where we would put up a great effort most Fridays-even if we lost. The come out Saturday and stink up the joint. I always ownderd if it was the seniors and older guys heading out to celebrate too much but never found out. We learned a little about what this team could do last night-tonight we may learn what this team will do. FSU is going to do everything to gain a split and gain back any respect they lost by being beaten by an ECAC team (that is not predicted to be in the top echelon of its own league).

That was REDaero91 and myself, glad you liked them! I had a great time at the tailgate, it's always great to be able to meet you all, as well as the parents of our team. Thanks Babo for putting it all together. :)

Tonight I just want to see the team working as hard as they did last night. I think the most important thing is not to let the win get to their heads and I'm betting Appert's told them that as well.
