Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Guys-I am now 19 posts from reaching a milestone-being in the top ten as listed by total posts. Once i get to that level i will probably just shut up and post very little. It has taken me 13 years to get there. Then I can wait for FlagDude to join me. I was going to attempt to catch Ralph but I figured I would be 104 at that time and would need a lot of help just to sit by the keyboard and type.

For the football fans-in a game we really needed to win-RPI 31 Rochester 21. Rochester has hown itself to be a good team and a contender in the Liberty League. RPI is now overall 5-1 and 3-1 in the League. The toughest part of the schedule now remains with Hobart, Springfield and Union. But we are assured of a winning season! And perhaps some more games in playoff possibilities. We were outgained in yardage but played a superb second half to win.

Edit-And we manhandled Alfred in our first game and they have not lost since and are currently beating up St John Fisher which is the number 11th ranked team in Division III and could be a highly ranked team themselves.

TBA still posts, so if you stop he will catch you again. There are some not far ahead of you whom you could catch who don't post or very little (Ciskie, GLM :(, tcbg).

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Thank you to those who attended and I'm happy to hear you had a good time. Special thanks to those who provided both items and food/drink (TB...Dear God man! You never cease to amaze me! WS...the next time you think of bringing what you brough, just stick it in the back of my car and don't tell anyone!). Special thanks to those who policed the area and helped clean up...great group and great fun!:)

The game. My most noted and appreciated moment was the group hug after the win...it wasn't a whooped up celebration; it was a group of young men coming together, moving the net out of the way, and genuinely becoming a team. I was moved by it. I've seen that type of of camaraderie before (when the Dubuque Fighting Saints built up to a championship)...not making any predictions nor trying to jinx the team so early on...but I got a feeling that this was the start of of fun season.

And thanks to FD08 for egging me on a bit this morning in the book store, so I finally bought a jersey. Yes it's a replica, but I can't see myself wearing one with the nameplate of someone who is 1/3 my age.

I thought that TB wasn't there, or at least Aspy said he wasn't, or was what amazed you that he wasn't there?

Because Diebold is listed first doesn't that usually mean he will be the starter? Everything is the same as last night from I can see.
Usually the word "starter"is printed in bold lettering under the goalies name when it is official, more often than not the starter is in the first slot, but not always

Yes about starter being printed under his name.....no about the order. I just looked at the line-ups from last year & it's the exact same order as this year, with Kasdorf in place of Coupal (this year).

Will not be really looking over my shoulder-my goal was to reach the top 10-whether I stay there or not who knows? i could always go into the cafe and do the association thing if need be-but i find that tedious and boring. If we all stay healthy-we could have several RPI supporters high up on the list. you will never be threatened in the #1 position but we still could have 2-3 others up there which would actually be quite an accomplishment considering how many fans of other schools there are. There are fans of other schools aren't there??(misguided as they may be)

You better not. Everyone was bummed you weren't there last night. In fact, tb, turk and I agreed were are going to go to Princeton to pay homage to you.

I stand somewhat corrected. Starting with a game Jan.6th from last year the order of goalies changed with Merriam listed 1st then Diebold then Coupal (Coupal listed only when at home/dressed)

Diebold in goal. First one on sheet is starter.
