RPI 2024 Off-Season: Was 2023 – 2024 Just a Bad Dream?

Beattie clearly left after Bowers' appointment because he didn't get the AD job.

You are correct. This was briefly mentioned on another thread, but Beattie was interviewed by the Schenectady Gazette after he took a new job at Albany Law School; it was clear that he wanted the AD job and was open to new opportunities after that didn't work out.

Want to post about a few things since I haven't posted in a little while, been a busy summer.

I don't think the turnover in the athletic department is anything to be concerned about. We have a new AD and administration, so I'd just guess it's a combo of them wanting to get their own people in and some wanting to move on. Pretty natural to have some turnover with an entirely new regime.

As for Brett, I have nothing but good things to say about him. He was only at RPI for a year but was always a pleasure to talk to and work with last year. Seems like he got a nice promotion to be the associate director of an entire conference; good for him!

Schedule definitely looks easier than last year (would be hard for it not to be easier though), but I like it because I think it strikes a better balance with schools like Maine and UNH still on the schedule and despite Miami's struggles in recent years, they are still an NCHC school.

Every year I do jersey number predictions because they're fun, and it's cool to see how wrong I always end up :-P

Her new boss Jeff Schanze was a big loss when he left RPI in2017. Many RPI alumni trusted him.

If you look who works over there, it’s basically everyone who worked in Hefner Alumni House for him. Kaitlyn Lounsberyy, Peter Pedone, and the guy Sachi’s replacing, Geoff Seber and tons of others. Shirley must’ve really pissed off Schanz if he’s poaching everyone from RPI.

Not to nitpick, but, poaching is random and indiscriminate. Perhaps a better term to describe this would be cherry picking which is only taking the ones that are good!!!

This might put a lot more pressure on Brian Vines to have a good season. Before the AD had to think "If I let Brian go I will undoubtedly have to fill two positions." Now it's just one.

I don't know if "pressure" is the right word. Something tells me that if Brian was on the hot seat Sachi wouldn't have left. I have no idea how many years Vines has left on his contract, but I think this move makes it more of a guarantee that Brian does not intend to sign another one.

Why not? Its not like she is leaving the area.
I believe that most of the people that left, were not happy with the change at the top.
While we all have bad feelings about Shirley, She still had people on her side.
If Brian were to leave, he would have to leave the area and i just don't think that he would do that unless his contract was not renewed.

Based on the financial resources and support provided to Coach Vines and his program by RPI (compared to the men), fans and the administration have NOTHING to complain about.

I’m sure resources and support are a joke for both programs. Let’s be honest both programs are irrelevant in their conference and even more so on the national stage. I could be wrong but when our great coach Dave smith was hired from powerhouse canisius I thought alumni and supporters were complaining to the Troy record and idiot lee McElroy that the hockey programs are not funded properly and they wanted a say in the next head coach? Idk I’ve lost track of how many promises the school has made to fans alumni etc only to be disappointed. Good news is Dave has scheduled a bunch of Atlantic hockey teams this year to save his job. At least we have that to look forward to
